Tomer Benvenisti

The 2003 World Series of Poker has been credited with sparking the poker boom when Chris Moneymaker won the Main Event that year for $2,500,000. Do you ever wonder how different things would be if the accountant from Tennessee didn’t win? What if poker pro Sam Farha had captured the gold bracelet? How about either poker pros Dan Harrington or Amir Vahedi? Heck, if things had gone a little differently, Tomer Benvenisti could have been the 2003 World Champ.

You might be wondering, “Who the heck is Tomer Benvenisti?” The old saying goes, “Nobody remembers second place,” so that certainly...

"Oh no, it only cost me $125 from a satellite that they used to have that were great. It was a two-table satellite. They gave you a ton of chips. It took hours to finish, but at least it showed some skill level." .... How do you get a $10,000 entry fee out of a two-table, $125 entry satellite?? If the tables were ten-handed, the total satellite prize fund would be 20 x $125 = $2,500.

Please check some of these stories out Smile Otherwise a good article Wink

With all due respect to Tomer, if he won 2003 Main Event I don't think there would have been a big boom. Moneymaker was indeed the spearhead of the boom. Tomer was so forgettable.

flintsworld: $125 satellite win awards two winners a seat in the $550 mega. 5% of that field qualifies for main event seat. This is how it's alway been. That may not have been spelled out in the story, but that's how $125 gets you in to the main event. Re: two table satellite, that's $2500 total prize pool = awards two players seat into single table sat for main event (plus a little cash), or four players seat into mega. FYI, cheers
