Full Tilt Poker

Last week, Behnam Dayanim, lawyer for Groupe Bernard Tapie, revealed that a number of poker professionals associated with Full Tilt Poker had outstanding debts that threatened GBT’s acquisition of the online poker site. Now, iGamingFrance is reporting that Laurent Tapie, the man behind the acquisition, has confirmed the allegations.

According to iGamingFrance, the amount owed by these players, $16.5 million, is an extra expense GBT may not be willing to take on, though several of the players who have not been identified have signed contracts to repay their debt.

Absolutely disgusting that FTP loaned their "buddies" this amount of money that wasn't theirs to loan and now these "cowards" who probably were delighted that FTP went under should be NAMED and SHAMED so everyone knows what scumbags they actually are.

The debtors who claim to be concerned about player funds getting paid back if they pay Tapie need to back that claim up by putting the money they owe in escrow, with the agreement that should the BTG deal fail--whether because of their outstanding debts or not--the money will be used to make partial restitution to the players who had positive account balances on FTP.

i just hope that ivey is amongst the players who instantly replied to GBT, it would be a tragedy if this whole fulltilt thing would destroy his reputation as THE fan favorite in poker. But the statement ""The poker community, and particularly that made up of former Full Tilt players waiting to recover their funds, deserves to know the reality of the behavior of some major poker figures who say they are sorry for the situation of Full Tilt players and want to do everything they can to help them get their funds back, blaming the old management, [...]" sounds like it tries to scream "IVEY!", if it weren't for the accretion accretion "[...], but also refrain from saying how much they have borrowed from Full Tilt, and lost, playing on the site." Big Grin lets just hope that whole drama will be forgotten when the 2012 wsop starts and everyone will be able to cheer for ivey like always Smile

So FTP lends out money without asking it back of without any loan agreement. The incompetence of FTP management only becomes more apalling. Phil Ivey owned a stake in FTP. Why would GBT be name calling Phil Ivey while management of this epic fail company which clearly did not know how to handle money especially a lot of it while GBT will have to pay Ivey for his share in FTP first of all,uf they were to buy it. Why shaming these players of which some of them actually are FTP shareholders. There is no argument yet to pay this money back for these players, as Greenstein rightly states. GBT is throwing dirt and trying to make these few players look like sitting on a chunk of regular player funds. This statement from the lawyer is a joke and clearly shows that a deal is far off. GBT is just trying to gain attention for its own poker site ispt while getting some cheap parts of FTP on the way.

You owe money, you pay it back ... period. The so-called "great players" who are balking at paying their loans are hoping to block the deal and therefore avoid paying their debt. Such players forfeit the title "great".

If the players do not have the money to pay, that is an acceptable situation (it happens) and I am sure that the business people in GBT can work out a deal over time to address the shortfall.

GBT should also take into consideration that some pros are sponsored now by competing sites and be intentionally not paying, so that should not stop the deal but by all means publish the debt and take them to court for payment.
