This is my first time posting in a forum, I feel I really could do with some advice. Whenever I play cash games I always start out great and can quite often double or even triple my buy in in a short period of time (1 hour approx) but then a hand like below comes along and I lose it all. I should say that I do understand varience and know that from time to time these hands will happen but this seems to happen to me every night, making it impossible to build any decent kind of bankroll and I am struggling to think how to avoid these situations as it is def affecting my game, sometimes I get worried about this happening and overbet my good hands scaring everyone out of pots where i should be making more money. I am aware Im doing it but when i value bet on what appears to be a board of rags I get called and sucked out on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

Probably the only thing I'd have changed in this hand is I'd have bet more on the flop. You bet $.50 in to about $1.10, so just under half pot on a very draw heavy board. I think in this spot I'm betting closer to $.75-$.85 just to really make this guy pay. Now, come to find out he makes a terrible flop call and hits the turn. Well good for him. You're never getting away on this turn card I don't think, so don't even worry about it. BTW, are you short buying? I noticed that your stack with just over $9 to start the hand and you said in your post that you were doubling or trippling up then going broke. I'm not knocking shirt buying at all, but one think I can think of is if you're used to buying in for less than $5, chances are you're making some fundamental mistakes as your stack gets deeper. This particular hand is played fine as you could easily be up against a flush draw, a pair and a flush draw, a smaller over pair like 88 or 99, but I'm wondering if you're over playing some 1 pair hands on dry boards, or playing too active when you get a big stack. |
