Team PokerNews member, Stefan de Vries hails from the city of Zutphen in Netherlands. “I’ve been playing poker for about a year and a half now,” explains Stefan. He got hooked on poker after a friend taught him how to play the game at a party. Now, the economics student mostly plays poker online with the occasional home game with friends. He admits to dabbling in sit-n-gos and multi-table tournaments. However, in recent weeks he has been spending his time playing cash games. Winning this €1,500 PokerNews Cup Austria Package is the Dutchman’s biggest win to date. He felt “very excited, I didn’t expect to win at all… it was about 1:30am so I had to be quiet – but it wasn’t very easy!” Stefan celebrated by sharing the news with his friends (some of whom may follow him to Austria) and having a couple of beers in the city. When not busy at the tables, expect to find Stefan in the soccer field at least twice a week or having a drink or two with his friends.
