Devoted father of one, Andrew Ritchie, first started playing poker two and a half years ago. “I was at a loss with what to do in the evenings when my son was out; and so I found poker by chance online and have loved the game from the start.” Andrew enjoys No Limit Texas Holdem and mostly plays online as it is “more convenient for me.” The Scottish taxi driver prefers tournaments and “only plays ring games to get points.” His biggest poker success to date is winning a $100,000 Jackpot sit-n-go. He has had some major tournament experience including competing in the 2007 World Poker Tour in Barcelona. This humble and loving parent felt “happy and then a little worried” when he found out he won a $7,500 South African PokerNews Open Freeroll, “because I am a single parent and I don’t want my son to feel like poker comes before him; because it never will.” When not playing poker, Andrew enjoys golf and spending time with his son. This will be Andrew’s first visit to South Africa. We look forward to watching Andrew and the rest of Team PokerNews battle it out at the 2008 South African PokerNews Open.
