William Anderson is no stranger to poker. Having first played 45 years ago when he was allowed to sit in on a game with his parent’s friends – William has not stopped since. Currently he enjoys playing in “family games, home games, and when I was in the military – a lot of marathon games with pink slips and pay checks flowing across the table... frequently in my direction!” The retired nurse favours Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Texas Holdem and when playing online he enjoys freerolls and low level buyins. His biggest success to date is “when I turned the $40 I’d won in a freeroll into $2500 in 15 minutes while playing a ring game.” William admits feeling “shocked” when he found out he had won a $7,500 PokerNews Cup Freeroll. “I’d come so close to winning packages in the past, but always fell short… but I knew one of these packages had my name on it!” The American has not played in a major tournament before but considers himself “as good as most, and better than the rest when it comes to playing cards... so I’m very interested in seeing how I compare with the rest of the world!” This will be William’s first visit to South Africa.
