Event #15: 8-Game Mixed Event

Day 1 Completed

Down To Four; Champion To Be Crowned

Level 14
Maria Ho (in the Main Event)
Maria Ho (in the Main Event)

It was the first time this discipline of poker has been played as a championship format at the Aussie Millions and it is safe to say that it has been a rousing success with the Event #15: $10,500 8-Game Mixed Event featuring one of the toughest fields and finest final tables ever assembled on Australian soil.

Those who dished out the cash and joined the field to prove themselves as the elite mixed game player include Richard Ashby, Jeffrey Lisandro, Daniel Alaei, Joseph Serock, David Oppenheim and last years Aussie Millions H.O.R.S.E champion, David Bach.

Unfortunately for the above it wasn’t their day as they were sent to the rail, but of course they had to be to make way for the skilled few who maneuvered through the field to still stand strong.

Kicking off early in the day, play went on for twelve hours before the final table was reached and then another few hours before the final paying five were determined. The unfortunate player to bubble was Full Tilt Red Pro Eli Elezra. But alas, someone had to go so the money could finally be reached.

It was debated as to whether the champion should be crowned tonight, but after Mike Watson went home in 5th place for a AUD$20,000 score and no quick end in sight, the players decided to bring it back tomorrow to play it down to one.

Final Four:

SeatPlayerChip Count
1Andy Bloch163,700
2Maria Ho187,100
3Justin Smith87,200
4Robert Campbell122,000

It is Maria Ho atop the chip counts and she will be looking to bring her form from today into tomorrow. Team Full Tilt’s Andy Bloch is sitting nicely in the final four, while Full Tilt Red Pro Justin Smith is still in contention. Melbourne’s own Robert Campbell is alive and well looking to keep the title on home soil.

Be sure to join us here at 2.15 p.m AEST and sweat along with the PokerNews Live Reporting Team as a champion of the mixed game is crowned!

Calling It a Night

Level 14

The final four, after some heated negotiations, have decided to call it quits for the night since it's 4:00 a.m. They will resume play at 2:15 p.m. on Friday.

Let's Play

Level 14

The players have decided to play until the next break and then have a chat about whether or not they are going to play it out tonight.

Eli Elezra Eliminated in 6th Place

Level 14

2-7 Triple Draw

The bubble has finally burst with Eli Elezra the unfortunite player sent home after all those hours with nothing but a bubble boy story.

Eli Elezra only started the hand with under 20,000 in chips and when he looked at his cards he liked them enough to put in the raise to 10,000. Justin Smith, Robert Campbell and Andy Bloch would like their hands enough to try and eliminate a player.

Elezra was allin on the next round, drawing two while Bloch would be the aggressor drawing one. The other two player called, each drawing three. The next round saw Elezra again draw one, while Bloch would bet again while standing pat. By the last rounds it was down to just Elezra and Bloch as the other two stopped tangling with Bloch.

Elezra continued to draw to one card until the last round when Bloch turned over {8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}. Elezra found no luck and mucked his hand as he became the bubble boy after almost 15 hours of play.

Back And Forth

Level 14

Another round of No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha has taken place with not much incidence. Some chips were shared around and a few flops were seen but we are no closer to our bubble player then before.

Currently there are three relatively short stacked players at the table, with Eli Elezra slipping just below 50,000 and Watson and Bloch hovering just above that level.

Elezra Doubles through Bloch

Level 14

No Limit Hold'em

Eli Elezra has been grinding the short stack for awhile. No limit was going to be a make or break round for him. He raised one hand to 8,700 and took down the blinds. Then he raised the next hand the same amount, and Andy Bloch defended his big blind. Bloch checked the {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, and Elezra bet 12,500, knocking the stacked bet toward Bloch. Andy made the call.

Bloch checked the {8-Diamonds} turn to allow Elezra to stick in the rest of his 29,000-chip stack. Elezra took his time about it, shuffling the whole thing for a minute before putting it in the middle. Bloch called.

Elezra: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} - aces with a jack kicker
Bloch: {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} - aces with a six kicker and an open-ended straight draw

Bloch had plenty of outs to eliminate Elezra, but the {q-Hearts} river was a brick. Elezra doubled to 95,000, leaving Bloch with just 32,000.
