Samantha Abernathy Eliminated in 3rd Place (AU$625,000)

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Samantha Abernathy Eliminated
Samantha Abernathy Eliminated

Hand #92: Tony Dunst folded the button and action was on Samantha Abernathy in the small blind. With just about 15 big blinds left (1.5 million) she moved all in with {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Ari Engel was quick to call in the big blind with {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

Abernathy needed to improve to stay alive. While Engel flopped two pair, Abernathy was anything but drawing dead after the {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop.

She needed running tens or eights, or a seven or queen to stay alive. She missed those outs with the {J-Hearts} on the turn and {8-Spades} on the river, and made her exit in 3rd place for AU$625,000.

Tony Dunst and Ari Engel are guaranteed AU$1 million but will soon be battling it out heads up for the AU$1.6 million first place prize and the coveted 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event gold bracelet.

Hands #77-82: Dunst and Engel Make Correct Laydowns

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #77: Tony Dunst raised to 175,000 from the button with a mere {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Ari Engel called from the big blind with the better hearts: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Engel check called a bet of 175,000.

Engel made trips on the {10-Diamonds} turn and both players checked. The {5-Clubs} on the river was a blank and Engel bet 410,000 into the 770,000 pot. Dunst thought about it for a good 2 minutes before eventually folding his bottom pair.

Hand #78: Ari Engel in the small blind completed with {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Tony Dunst with {K-Clubs}{4-Spades} checked and the two of them took a flop of {Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Engel bet 85,000 with his flopped two pair and Dunst folded.

Hand #79: Engel limped in from the button. Tony Dunst completed with {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Samantha Abernathy found a monster in the big blind with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and moved all in for 1.9 million. Engel folded right away, Dunst did the same after thinking about it for just a bit longer.

Dunst flopped an open ended and bet out 125,000 into the 270,000 pot. Abernathy folded instantly and Engel made the call, growing the pot to 520,000.

Alexander Lynskey Eliminated in 4th Place (AU$445,000)

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Alexander Lynskey - 4th Place
Alexander Lynskey - 4th Place

Hand #74: After Ari Engel limped in from under the gun, Alexander Lynskey raised all in for about 1.6 million with the {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Unfortunately for him, Engel had limped with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and made the quick call to have Lynskey at risk.

The flop was {Q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} to make Lynskey's tournament survival look bleak. The turn left him drawing dead when the {2-Spades} fell, and the river was a blank.

Lynskey earned a payout of AU$445,000 for his fourth-place finish, bettering the ninth-place result he scored in last year's Aussie Millions Main Event for AU$120,000.

The remaining trio were guaranteed AU$625,000 after his bust.
