Day 2 Completed
It would take a day a chock day full of surprises to get to the final table of the DeepStacks Poker Tour Western New York Poker Championship final table, but it did happen eventually.
Two-time WSOP and WPT title holder Michael Mizrachi came in leading the final 42 at the Seneca Niagara Casino. But while Day 1 certainly belonged to him, Day 2 did not.
"The Grinder" just couldn't seem to win a pot in the early going and went from the start of day chip boss to just another short stack limping into the money and busting out all too early.
But before the Team Deepstacks Pro would end his run in 14th, the bubble brought an even more shocking downfall.
Kyaw Naing had worked his way into what appeared to be a dead heat for the chip lead with Lou Procopio and in a stunning turn of events, the two tangled over a massive pot just as the 24-person money bubble was approaching.
Naing shoved a flopped flush draw into Procopio's aces, the aces held and Naing was left crippled.
A few hands later Naing went from chip leader to bubble boy in a three-way pot with Mizrachi and "Hoss" Calao chopping up his chips.
When the bubble's dust had settled, Procopio held a massive lead and the short stacks who had been folding to cash started making for the exits at a rather rapid pace.
Play from 24 down to the final 12 was extremely quick and as the masses fell by the wayside, Nachman Berlin began making his move. He got lucky to double twice early in the day, then won a huge flip against Andy Spears to build a contending stack.
It was not to be for Berlin, however, as he eventually got caught bluffing and handed a huge stack to William Vogel.
Vogel and Procopio spent the rest of the day and night vying for the lead with more than 50 per cent of all the chips in play.
When Husni Aga finally busted seventh to set Sunday's final table, fellow short stack Steve Przybyl would have to be considered the happiest player in the final six, making his second straight final table in this event after a second place finish last year.
Meanwhile, Vogel found himself on the top of the leaderboard and will take that stack into the chase for a $71,827 first-place prize at an all Western New Yorker final inside the Seneca Niagara Casino beginning at 2 p.m. EST tomorrow.

His last stand began when he defended his big blind against a button raise from Wiliam Vogel. Both checked the flop, but when Vogel made it 25k on the turn, Aga called.
The river seemed innocent enough, but Aga decided to shove his last 185k in the middle. After about two minutes in the tank, Vogel called with and Aga had been caught bluffing with .
