Break it Down

We're at another stopping point with the clock showing 00:00. Level 24 is history, and the players are taking 15 minutes to recompose.

Benzimra Takes Back the Lead

Oleksandr Vaserfirer raised to 85,000 and Christophe Benzimra called from the small blind. The flop came down {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} and Benzimra checked. Vaserfirer fired 50,000 and was called.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and Benzimra checked again. Vaserfirer fired 250,000, five times what he bet on the flop. Benzimra went into the tank for a few minutes.

"You have a flush?" questioned Benzimra.

A few moments passed before Vaserfirer questioned back. "Do you have a queen?"

"Do I need to answer that?" responded Benzimra.

A few moments later, Benzimra announced a raise and made the minimum one to 500,000. Vaserfirer folded his hand and Benzimra scooped in the pot to take back the chip lead.

All-in Alfio

From the button, Alfio Battisti opened to 90,000, and Christophe Benzimra wanted to play for more. In the small blind, he re-raised to 220,000, and Battisti called for a significant chunk of his stack.

Heads-up, the dealer ran a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {8-Clubs}. Benzimra fired 260,000 chips at the pot, drawing a long, blank stare from his opponent. Finally, Battisti announced an all in for 610,000 total. Benzimra required a full breakdown of the stacks as he contemplated his decision. There really was no decision; he made the call to put Battisti at risk.

The Italian tabled {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}, still on a draw for his tournament life. Benzimra was poised for the knockout at he confidently flipped up his {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}.

The turn was a blank, the {7-Spades}. The river, however, was a very fortunate card for the at-risk Battisti. The {9-Spades} landed on board to give both men the queen-high straight and chop the pot right in half. Battisti has managed to stave off elimination for now, much to the delight of his railbird, Dario Minieri.

Benzimra Bullies Pagano

With the action folded around to the blinds, Christophe Benzimra made it 90,000 from the small before Luca Pagano three-bet to 240,000 from the big.

The flop of {10-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {A-Hearts} drew a check from Benzimra, and Pagano kept the heat on with a small continuation bet of 220,000.

"You cover me?" asked Benzimra. Pagano affirmed, and another minute or two passed before Benzimra acted. When he did, it was a big move with an all-in check-raise. Pagano shook his head and quickly folded his hand.

Benzimra exposed his {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} as he raked in that healthy pot. He's up over 1.75 million now, while Pagano has taken a slide back to 1.05 million.

Battisti Moves In

Alfio Battisti started it off with an under-the-gun raise to 70,000. Both blinds in the form of Luca Pagano and Oleksandr Vaserfirer came along to the flop.

The dealer spread out {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}. Pagano checked, and Vaserfirer led out into the pot for 110,000. After some debate, Battisti moved all in for right at 700,000, and that would be enough to win him the pot right there.

Ukraine Pounding On Italy

Under the gun, Oleksandr Vaserfirer raised to 80,000. His buddy that's been playing a lot of pots with him recently, Alfio "aLFioSn0b" Battisti, called on the button and the two players took a heads-up flop. The first three cards were the {K-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. Both players checked and then the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn. Both players checked again.

The final card was the {A-Clubs}. vaserfirer wasn't checking this time as he fired 120,000. Battisti mucked, backing off again from a bet from Vaserfirer, slipping to about 700,000.

On the next orbit when he had the button again, Oleksandr Vaserfirer made his standard raise to 80,000. Alfio "aLFioSn0b" Battisti reraised out of the small blind to 210,000. Vaserfirer made the call and the flop would reveal a {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. Much of the spectators hunched closer to the rail with an action-type flop and a big pot brewing.

Battisti checked and Vaserfirer fired 295,000. Battisti let all the fans down when he quickly mucked his hand, dropping down to 820,000. Vaserfirer is back over two million now with 2.12 million.
