Day 4 is a Wrap; Final Table Set

The elimination of Alexander Debus has set the final table, signaling the end of Day 4 at the PokerStars.com EPT Warsaw.

The final 24 players returned to the Casinos Poland today to resume their quest for the trophy, and the action kicked off at a torrid pace. Some of the big names were the first to go as Shaun Deeb, Michel Abecassis, Vitaly Lunkin, Antony Lellouche, and Peter Hedlund were all sent packing in the first full level of play.

Things slowed down just a tad when we got down to 13 players, but not much. Jani Sointula headed out in 12th place. Alexey Yuzikov's 11th-place exit sparked a real halt to the action, and it would be quite a while before the next elimination.

That unfortunate spot belonged to start-of-day chip leader Jeff Sarwer . Two consecutive losses with Big Slick sealed his fate, and a disappointed Sarwer was ousted on the unofficial final-table bubble. About a half hour later, Debus' knockout brought the chip bags to the table as the official final table was locked up.

Those eight who survived will return tomorrow at 1:00pm local time to fight it out for the title. Stacks are deep, and all signs point to a long haul for the final. Be sure to join us then as we crown our champion in Warsaw!

Alexander Debus Eliminated in 9th Place (85,870 PLN)

Alexander Debus moved all in from the hijack seat for 178,000. Member of Team PokerStars PRO Italy Luca Pagano was in the cutoff seat next in line. He checked his hole cards and then verified the count with the dealer. Once that was done, he looked to his left and checked the stacks behind him.

"I'm all in." he declared.

The button and blinds all folded and Pagano tabled {Q-Diamonds}

. Debus would need some help if he were to double up holding {A-Spades}

.

The flop was dealt first, {6-Clubs}

. Debus paired his six, but needed to find another one or pair his ace on one of the next two cards.

The turn was the {8-Hearts}

and gave a little scare to Luca as it somewhat resembled a six.

The river was the {4-Clubs}

, but no help to Debus. Pagano raised both hands in the air triumphantly, sending Debus home in 9th place and ending play for the day.

Racing for the Final Table

Alfio Battisti raised to 42,000 from middle position, and Alexander Debus three-bet to about 100,000 a few seats over. When it came back to Battisti, he moved all in, and Debus quickly called to put his opponent at risk.

Debus:

The flop was a hit for Battisti as it came out {3-Hearts}

to put him well in the lead and in good shape to double. A scary {6-Hearts}

came on the turn, and Debus picked up a flush draw that would potentially end the day. The river was red, but it was the {8-Diamonds}

, holding Battisti's pair of kings and earning him an all-important double up.

Jeff Sarwer Eliminated in 10th Place (85,870 PLN)

Jeff Sarwer raised to 38,000 and action folded over to Oleksandr Vaserfirer in the small blind. Vaserfirer moved all in to put the pressure on Alexander Debus in the big blind and the original raiser Sarwer. Debus folded, but Sarwer made the call.

Sarwer tabled {A-Spades}

and was in a big flip for his tournament life with Vaserfirer's {Q-Spades}

.

The flop gave a ton of hope to Sarwer when the {A-Hearts}

fell. Sarwer was standing and gave a big "Yes!" yell when he saw the ace put him in the lead.

The turn was the {10-Spades}

and Sarwer still led.

The dealer burned and slid the river up to the end of the board. Then, she flipped over the {Q-Hearts}

to give Vaserfirer a full house!

The look on Alexander Kravchenko's face on the rail was absolutely priceless. The normally stoic Russian had both hands on his cheeks and his mouth wide open. Vaserfirer turned to high five Kravchenko before collecting in his chips. Sarwer was sent home in 10th place.

"You're a good flipper." Sarwer said, as he shook Vaserfirer's hand and exited the tournament area.

Debus Drinking Double

For the second hand out of three, Alexander Debus open-shoved all in, this time for 240,000. Jeff Sarwer gave a speech before folding to that move last time, but this time he announced his own all in over the top. That was enough to get the rest of the table out of the way and put Debus heads up for his tournament life.

The flop was money in the bank for the at-risk player as he found the case king. In the end, the board ran {2-Clubs}

, and Debus' full house earns him a big double up. He's right at a half-million chips now, while Sarwer takes a slide down to about 400,000.
