Lykov's Little Pot

Lucasz Plichta raised to 110,000 from the middle seat, and small blind Maxim Lykov came along to see a heads-up flop.

It showed up {4-Spades} {10-Hearts} {8-Spades}, and both players checked. The {7-Hearts} on the turn was Lykov's signal to bet, and he made it 120,000 to play. Plichta didn't waste much time calling, and the river brought the {A-Hearts}. Lykov stacked out a smallish bet of 155,000, and it was enough to take down the pot right there.

What's Happening

Three hands from the last orbit:

Vitaly Tolokonnikov opened with a raise to 90,000 from under the gun, and Alexander Dovzhenko called from the big blind. The flop came {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Dovzhenko checked, Tolokonnikov bet 100,000, and Dovzhenko folded.

Then, Maxim Lykov opened with a raise to 80,000 from the button, and took the blinds and antes.

Next, the table folded around to Tolokonnikov who completed from the small blind, and Lucasz Plichta checked from the BB. Both checked the {4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop. The turn brought the {5-Clubs}. Tolokonnikov bet 40,000, then Plichta raised to 110,000. Tolokonnikov thought a beat, then let it go.

Plichta Doesn't Want a Flop

Max Lykov opened with a cutoff raise to 95,000, and Alexander Dovzhenko called from the button. Small blind Vitaly Tolokonnikov came along as well, but big blind Lucasz Plichta wanted to play for more. He squeezed it up to 440,000, and the involved players folded rather quickly in turn.

Plichta showed pocket jacks, but it was an extremely effective play regardless of what he held. That win improves his stack by about 30%, bumping him up to 1,353,000.

Lucasz Plichta -- 1.056 million
Arthur Simonyan -- 552,000

May the Most Aggressive Man Win

Vitaly Tolokonnikov and Maxim Lykov have been tangled up with each other on several occasions as they have established themselves as the two most aggressive players on the table.

A couple hands ago, Tolokonnikov opened to 95,000 before Lykov re-raised to 245,000. That was enough to fold Tolokonnikov, but he had revenge on his mind.

Just a hand or two later, he did it again, opening to 95,000 once more. And once again, Lykov three-bet it, 255,000 this time. After a short pause, Tolokonnikov moved all in, drawing a quick fold from his opponent to snag his chips back.

Ad Schaap Eliminated in 6th Place (€60,000)

Maxim Lykov opened another pot with a raise before Ad Schaap moved all in for about 550,000. When it came back around to the raiser, he quickly made the call to put Schaap in danger.

Showdown
Lykov: {10-Clubs} {10-Spades}
Schaap: {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Racing for his tournament life, Schaap would find no help on a board of {4-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}. That will spell the end of the day for the good-natured restauranteur from Holland. With his exit, we are now out of Dutch players, so the EPT trophy will be coming home to a new country for the first time in three events.

For his work over the past five days, Ad Schaap takes home a nice payday worth €60,000.

Plichta Pushes Chips

Lucasz Plichta

Under the gun, Maxim Lykov opened with a raise to 100,000 straight, only to see Lucasz Plichta move all in for 492,000. Lykov asked for a full count before making the call with the covering stack, the young Pole now at risk for his tournament life.

Showdown
Lykov: {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Plichta: {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs}

The flop was a big dry desert for the all-in player as it ran out {3-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}. The {6-Hearts} that hit the turn was a bit of a help as it gave him four more outs to the chop. There would be no chop though.

The {10-Hearts} peeled off on the river, and it was a beautiful sight for Plichta. His pair of tens is good enough for the come-from-behind double up, pushing him over 1,000,000 for the first time today. Lykov, meanwhile, is sliding the other way. He's back to 1,616,000 with the shorter stacks now hot on his heels.

Tolokonnikov Doubles Through Lykov

Maxim Lykov opened with a raise to 90,000 from the hijack seat, then Vitaly Tolokonnikov pushed forward his remaining 539,000 from the button. The blinds folded, and Lykov called.

Lykov showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and Tolokonnikov {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. The flop was {5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}, and Tolokonnikov was still good. The turn brought the {Q-Diamonds}, and now Tolokonnikov had to avoid a jack as well as an ace or king. The river brought the {4-Diamonds}, and Tolokonnikov survived.

Tolokonnikov chips up to 1.154 million on that one, while Lykov slips to 2.107 million.
