Day 2 Ends in Chaos

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Georgios Manousos
Georgios Manousos

Thomas Kremser announced that there would be five more hands before we called it a day. Little did he know the chaos that would ensue. Team Pokerstars Pro Ruben Visser found himself knee deep in trouble against Paolo Rigano, Andrea Benelli found himself in a huge KK v AA pot versus Daniel Sjogren (incredibly Team Pokerstars Pro had folded KK in that same exact) and Xuan Liu won an all-in pot against her neighbour and her chip stack became taller than her.

The media were running this way and that trying to ascertain who was going to come out of the madness as the chip leader. When the dust had settled Georgios Manousos was that man with 573,900 chips. He also had a very happy Dad who had been railing him vociferously all day long.

We simply cannot wait for tomorrow.

Aces Versus Kings

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

This place just exploded into madness as we approached the end of Day 2. It seemed as if there were hands everywhere and here was one that was a monster.

Andrea Benelli raised to 7,000 and Victor Ramdin three-bet to 21,500. Daniel Sjogren four-bet to 47,500 and Andrea Benelli moved all-in for 325,000. Victor Ramdin tanked for an eternity before eventually folded what he said was pocket kings. Daniel Sjogren made the call and we had a heads up confrontation between him and Benelli.

Sjogren: {a-Hearts} {a-Diamonds}
Benelli: {k-Clubs} {k-Hearts}

Sjogren won the 350,000 pot and Ramdin patted himself on the back for his fold.

Ruben Visser & Paolo Rigano Clash in a Big Pot

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Ruben Visser
Ruben Visser

Things can change in the blink of an eye in this game and they just have. Team Pokerstars Pro Ruben Visser has been in the top five chip counts most of the day. He has just lost a big pot against Paolo Rigano and is now rattling around with only 100,000.

The player under-the-gun opened the hand with a raise to 6,400. Visser called from the hijack, Paolo Rigano called from the cutoff, the button called and so did the big blind. So in total five players saw the flop.

Flop: {9-Spades} {5-Hearts} {2-Spades}

The big blind and the initial-raiser checked to Visser who bet 16,800. Vincent then raised to 42,500 and everyone folded back to Visser who made the call.

Turn: {j-Clubs}

Visser checked to Rigano who bet 64,300 and he made the call.

River: {7-Diamonds}

Both players checked.

Visser: {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Rigano: {A-Spades}{5-Spades}

Visser had missed absolutely everything and Rigano won the pot with a pair of fives.

That's Almost Your Lot

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

After two marathon Day 1s, we are being treated to a short Day 2 - just five 75 minute levels. The clock has been stopped, and we'll be bringing you all the last-minute action shortly. Then it will be time to dine like kings at one of San Remo's many astoundingly good restaurants Please stand by.

Deja Vu

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

Just minutes after Cada had eliminated Rumen Nanev he threw in a 7,000 raise while he was still re-building his stack. Barry Greenstein moved all-in for around 40,000 and then Ludovic Lacay moved all-in for substantially more in the small blind. Cada moved out of the way and Lacay and Greenstein were heads up.

Greenstein: {a-Diamonds} {q-Spades}
Lacay: {a-Hearts} {a-Spades}

Board: {6-Diamonds} {j-Spades} {3-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts}

Greenstein asked Lacay for his name, wrote an inscription in the book and handed it to him alongside a congratulatory handshake.

Lacay told us later that this was the second time that Greenstein had handed Lacay a copy of his book. The previous event being four-years ago at WPT Barcelona and bizarrely it was the exact two same hand combinations.

Carterload of Chips

Carter Phillips just won a big pot against Victor Ramdin, the board was reading {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Spades} and Phillips had checked the river with what looked to be a couple of hundred thousand in the middle. Ramdin bet 75,000, a substantial bet at this stage of the competition which had Phillips dwelling for about five minutes.

Finally, Phillips picked up the chips for a call and then faked a wave of it over the line.

"That's a call!" said Ramdin.

"No, it's not," replied Phillips but seconds later he did throw the chips into the middle.

"King high," said Ramdin and Phillips turned over {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} to reclaim a lot of the chips he'd previously lost.
