Slowing Down

Level 33 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

It's been pretty slow here at the Casino Barcelona as of late. In the last hand, Joni Jouhkimainen raised to 200,000 from the button holding {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and both his opponents folded from the blinds. This is indicative of the sort of action we've seen in the last few orbits.

Shiny Hats for the Finns

Level 33 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante
Ilari Sahamies

The players have returned from the dinner break, and the two Finns are sporting new hats. They're essentially shiny, sparkling fedoras. Ilari Sahamies is donning a silver one, while Joni Jouhkimainen has chosen gold. What's more, the Finns in the crowd, such as Juha Helppi, are wearing multicolored ones to support their countrymen.

One for Pobal

Level 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Mikalai Pobal raised on the button with {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and was met with a three-bet to 900,000 by Ilari Sahamies, who held {10-Spades}{9-Spades} on the button. Pobal pushed back with a four-bet to 1.6 million, Sahamies called, and the flop fell {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Sahamies didn't get any piece of it and ended up check-folding to a bet of 2.5 million.

Pobal Also Gets a Double

Mikalai Pobal
Mikalai Pobal

Joni Jouhkimainen seems to be bleeding his chips, giving away double ups to both of his opponents. At first it was Shamies who doubled through his fellow countryman and just now Mikalai Pobal did the same.

Pobal opened the action with a raise to 350,000 and Jouhkimainen shoved all in. Pobal gave it a thought and decided to make the call putting his tournament life at risk.

Jouhkimainen showed {A-Clubs} {9-Spades} and Pobal flipped {A-Spades} {10-Clubs}. The Belorussian was still in the lead after the {10-Spades} {8-Hearts} {9-Clubs} flop, while Jouhkimainen was in need on another nine. The {A-Diamonds} on the turn paired both aces, but favored Pobal more and the {6-Clubs} on the river gave him a double up.
