Day 1b Completed

Sergio Aido Continues Hot Streak, Leads EPT Field into Day 2

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Sergio Aido

The second start day of the PokerStars.com EPT London took place on Monday at the Grosvenor Victoria casino on Edgeware Road. Another 411 players parted with the £5,250 entry fee in the hope of succeeding Benny Spindler as the EPT London champion.

After eight 75-minute levels, Sergio Aido, the Spaniard who won the UKIPT on Sunday, continued what could only be described as 'the purplest purple patch of form' and finished the day as the overall chip leader with 215,200. Aido picked up £144,555 for the UKIPT win and in the only other tournament he has played this week he chopped a £1,000 no-limit turbo event for £20,000 with former EPT Monte Carlo winner Nicolas Chouity. So, decent form so far.

Chris Moorman flew the flag for the home country and manage to six-bet all-in with queen-ten suited against Steve Warburton's queens for a 110,000 chip pot with the blinds only 200/400 with a 50 ante. Warburton could've been forgiven for thinking he should not have returned back after the dinner break. He suffered another horrible beat at the 250/500/50 level, losing with pocket nines to seven-eight suited for a 50,000 chip which sealed his elimination. Moorman thrived in the meantime, finishing the day with 159,800.

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu, fresh off Sunday's team victory over the Full Tilt Professionals, had a low-key day, eventually busting in a coinflip for a 15,000 pot just before the dinner break. Negreanu was joined on the sidelines by fellow Team Pros Jake Cody, Fatima Moreira de Melo, Joe Cada, Vanessa Rousso and Dario Minieri who won't have great memories of the London event this time. Cody lost a crucial flip to the online wizard Victor Blom while Moreira de Melo also busted in flip.

Others who'll most likely be off to PokerStars Live at the Hippendrome for the numerous side events this week include: Martins Adeniya, Ludovic Lacay, Justin Bonomo, Olivier Busquet, Kevin MacPhee and Paul Volpe

Someone enjoying London a lot more is the hometown girl Vicky Coren, having won this event for a cool £500,000 back in Season 3. She finished the day with 44,000 to make it through to Day 2 joining other notables including: Michael Tureniec (139,000), Paul Berende (135,000) Ilari Sahamies (106,100), Mike McDonald (95,800), Lex Veldhuis (90,300), Bertrand Grospellier (65,600) and former internation footballer Teddy Sheringham (27,700)

Grospellier was one of several players to join a table christened “The Table of Doom” which featured at one point, Jude Ainsworth, Bryn Kenney, Sandra Naujoks, Shannon Shorr, Andrew Chen and Martin Jacobson – quality worthy of any final table and one that took a starring role on EPT Live.

Be sure to joing the Pokernews Live Reporting Team on Tuesday for Day 2 from 12pm (GMT) for next chapter of this tournament as we expect to play six more 90-minute levels of exciting action.

Bad Timing Work Out For Dion

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

We caught the action between Anton Wigg and Yann Dion preflop when Wigg had put in 8,700 from the small blind. The Swede was in the small blind and his opponent sat in the tank from the button. Dion had 3,900 out in front of him and after a while of tanking the Canadian moved all in for 40,925. Wigg called immediately.

Showdown:
Anton Wigg: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Yann Dion: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and with eighth on the river kept Dion alive. Wigg was knocked down but still has some chips to play around with.

Ramdin and Cada Bust

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Victor Ramdin - Eliminated
Victor Ramdin - Eliminated

Team PokerStars Pro Victor Ramdin was faced with an all-in bet from Ramzi Jelassi on a board of {7-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}. There was about 50,000 in the middle, and the bet was for around 30,000 or so. Ramdin tank-called, and the hands were opened.

Jelassi: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Ramdin: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The {7-Clubs} bricked on the river, and Ramdin hit the rail.

At an adjacent table, fellow Team Pro Joe Cada was eliminated. We think we overheard him tell Ramdin that he had pocket queens against an opponent's aces.

Kanu7 Can't Crack Kings

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Romanian George Ana raised to 1,700 in middle position, and the action folded to Alex "Kanu7" Millar, who three-bet to 5,600 from the big blind. The flop fell {9-Spades}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Millar checked, and Ana tossed out 5,200. Millar called.

The turn was the {2-Clubs}, Millar checked again, and Ana fired another 7,000. Millar again called.

The {4-Diamonds} completed the board, and both players knuckled. Ana quickly flipped over {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for two kings, and Millar mucked his hand.

Double For Bonding

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

The board read {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{K-Clubs} with a ton of chips already in the middle when Lars Bonding moved all in for 18,500. Bonding's opponent went into the tank for a while before making the call with a look of defeat already on his face. Bonding tabled {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and his opponent flashed {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a lower set. Quite the cooler between these two players and Bonding is looking healthy again with right around 65,000 chips.

Moorman, Give Me More

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Chris Moorman
Chris Moorman

A very happy Chris Moorman was sharing a tender moment with his lovely girlfriend on the rail rather than sat at his seat playing the last level. Mind you, he can afford to as his stack sat at 168,000. PokerNews don't get love get in the way of a good story though and interrupted the embrace to find out some details.

He told us that he got lucky to double to 100,000 a little earlier after his queen-ten cracked an opponent's pocket queens after all the chips went in pre flop.

Joe Cada piped in and said, "He won because he said nice hand before the cards were dealt!"

Cada then said the same unlucky player busted a short while after when his pocket nines lost to an opponent's seven-eight suited. Ouch.

"The rest of it was really good play by me," jested Moorman on how he accrued the rest of his stack.
