Brown Two-Outed on the River

Chad Brown
Chad Brown
On a board showing {Q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, the action was checked to Chad Brown who made it 6,000 to go. A player behind him called and a third player in the hand raised it to 25,000. Brown then re-popped it, putting both of his opponents all-in. The player to his left folded, but the one who made it 25,000 earlier in the hand made the call.

Brown had the advantage when the cards were turned over, revealing a set of 3's, while his opponent showed a pocket pair of Kings.

Drawing to just two outs, Brown's opponent would need a King on the river to stay alive, and sure enough, the last card off the deck was the {K-Diamonds}.

Brown may be down, but he's certainly not out. He's currently sitting on 75,000 chips, which is well above the tournament average of 46,480.

Amnon Filippi Makes The Call

Amnon Filippi
Amnon Filippi
On a board of {J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, Amnon made a small bet into a 6,300 pot, and was raised all in by his oponent to 24,900.

Amnon thought for a while before announcing, "I think you have ****" and making the call.

Amnon rolled over {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} while his opponent had {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and the river the {A-Diamonds} giving Amnon's opponent top two pair and the opportunity to roar at the top of his lungs. Amnon was heard saying: " Don't go far."

Home Game Satellite Winner Going Strong

Tim Wright and His Entourage
Tim Wright and His Entourage
While the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) may have hindered the number of Internet satellite qualifiers present at this year's Main Event, there are a number of live game satellite winners here at the WSOP, proving that the poker boom hasn't faded out just yet.

Players have come from all over the world representing their local casinos, bars, and home games -- and many of them are thriving; Tim Wright is one of those players.

Hailing from Cocoa Beach, Florida, Tim won his entry into the Main Event via a weekly Wednesday night tournament he plays in with nine of his close friends. The group maintains a point system throughout the course of the year and the winner earns the right to represent the rest of the group in "the big one."

Tim owns 20 percent of himself, while the rest of the group would divvy up the remaining 80 percent, should he make the money. This being Tim's first-ever WSOP event, he's making quite the splash and is amongst our Day 1c leaders, currently sitting with 123,000 in chips. He's got his entourage here for support and looks to make a strong push towards Day 2.

T.J. Cloutier Has Been Eliminated

T.J. Cloutier Eliminated
T.J. Cloutier Eliminated
Action folded around to T.J. Cloutier on the button, who raised to 4,000. The small blind called and the players took a flop heads-up...

{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

The small blind led out for 2,500 and Cloutier pushed all in for 6,500 more. The small blind made the call and showed {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Cloutier was in trouble with his {A-Spades}{6-Spades}. The turn and river blanked for Cloutier who will have to wait until next year for another chance at a Main Event gold bracelet.

Chad Brown Flushed Down

Chad Takes A Hit
Chad Takes A Hit
Chad has taken a sizable hit.

The flop of {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts} looked pretty good to Chad, who was holding {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. His opponent moved all in and Chad made the call in a heartbeat.
His opponent had {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and the {10-Diamonds} on the turn meant Chad was drawing to a {6-Hearts} or {J-Hearts} to make a straight flush.

Unfortunately for him the river was the {4-Spades} and his stack dropped down to 85,000.

Gotta Love Those Sports Analogies

Bill Gazes
Bill Gazes
After a small misunderstanding in which Bill Gazes corrected a dealer, but later realized he was in error, Gazes said, "I'm sorry...you're right...you're right." The dealer smiled and joked, "I'm always right." Gazes then quipped, "Dealer...you're really dealing above the rim." The table got a good laugh out of this.

Movin' on Up

Eight tables started out in the Poker Tent today, and the most notable player among them was T.J. Cloutier. Immediately upon moving inside, he was placed at the Bluff feature table, where he's been the rest of the day. Quite a change in environment.

Right now, Cloutier is hanging on at 13,000, because just before the last break, he had A-Q versus 8-8 and an eight fell on the flop.
