Rain Khan Busts a Player

Board: 6-7-10-4-8

Rain Khan raises in early position to 6,000. A player moves all in for 13,700. He looks at Khan and says, "I know you're scared, and you're going to fold." (Big words, considering what table he's at!) The rest of the table folds and Khan, unnecessarily, moves in for 100,000 to make the call. Khan has J-J versus his opponent's A-Q offsuit. The board comes and Khan busts the player. He's at 450,000.

Negreanu Eliminates Opponent at Feature Table

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu
Negreanu made it 5,000 to go from middle position and the lone call came from Samir Shakhloor in the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Samir checked to Negreanu who led out with a 6,000 bet. Samir then check-raised all-in for a total of 21,100. "Kid Poker" made the call and Samir turned over the {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, for top pair with a King kicker. Daniel then revealed {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} to the sound of cheer and applause from the gallery.

The turn and river blanked out and Samir said his goodbyes, as Negreanu raked in the pot, increasing his chip stack to 130,000 in chips.

Hal Lubarsky Shows Down a Winner With "Top Top"

The player under the gun limped in. Action folded around to Hal Lubarsky in the big blind, who raised to 8,500. The under-the-gun player reraised to 25,000 total. Lubarsky made the call and the two saw a flop heads-up...

{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

Lubarsky bet 22,000 and his opponent called. The turn brought the {3-Spades}. Lubarsky bet again, this time 40,000, and his opponent called. The river came the {J-Diamonds}. Both players checked. Lubarsky turned over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and his opponent mucked. Lubarsky stacked the chips, which now total 230,000.

Tony Hachem on the Move

Tony Hachem
Tony Hachem
Tony Hachem, who was the short stack on the feature table for most of the afternoon, seems to be enjoying his new environment.

He's just taken down another pot with an all-in reraise from the button. This moved his stack up to nearly 90,000.

I think he may have a slight advantage over some of his opponents though. Tony's brother Joe, the 2005 WSOP Champion, is cheering him on from the rails, and Tony has been seen chatting with him between hands.

Tony is flying the family flag this year, as Joe was eliminated yesterday.

The Crush Crash

Is anybody out there?
Is anybody out there?
There's such a crush of media around the Gus Hansen/Sorel Mizzi/Rain Khan table. At one point, a large boom mic hits the plastic table number and it crashes from under the light to the table. Everyone jumps. "Aahh!" Khan says. "The poker gods are mad at me!"

Eugene Tito Charges Through "The Matador"

Carlos "The Matador" Mortensen
Carlos "The Matador" Mortensen
Carlos Mortensen raised to 7,000 from under the gun. Eugene Tito, also acting from early position, moved all in for 36,400. Action folded around to Mortensen who made the call. The players showed...

Mortensen: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Tito: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

Tito spiked an ace on the flop, and to add insult to injury, a queen on the river to double up. Mortensen is down to 285,000 after the hand.

Scary Chop for Heimiller

Dan Heimiller called an opponent's 35,000 preflop all-in bet holding {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}; his opponent revealed the other two: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

The flop came {4-Spades}{A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} -- a seemingly safe flop for Heimiller, but when the {K-Spades} fell on the turn, Dan shouted, "Sh*t!"

He breathed a sigh of relief, though, when the {A-Clubs} was dealt on the river.

Gus Being Gus

Gus "The Great Dane" Hansen
Gus "The Great Dane" Hansen
Gus Hansen raised to 6,600 from early position and got one caller. The flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Gus bet 9,000 and his opponent folded. After the action was complete, Rain Khan said, "I would have flopped two pair with 8-2...I would have got all your chips." Hansen smiled and said, "Come on...you know I had some of that," as he showed the {2-Spades}.
