Mizrachi Three-Quarters Rouhani

Omaha-8

Just before the controversy momentarily halted the action, Michael Mizrachi three-quartered a nice pot, betting the flop and then check-raising the river of a {6-Spades} {4-Spades} {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {5-Clubs} board with Rouhani. He flipped over {A-Clubs} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} {2-Spades} for the nut low and a flush, while Rouhani could only manage the low with his {A-Spades} {2-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {4-Hearts}.

Controversy

There has been some controversy -- first, the TD was under the impression that they would be playing a half hour level of each game today, instead of the eight hands of each that they've been playing for the past two days. This was resolved fairly quickly, but there was then a further issue with the players apparently disputing the bring-in in the new level while the TD swore that he'd got it straight from the official published structure sheet. This has also now been resolved, and they now continue, with a round of stud.

First Hand Action

Omaha-8

And it would appear as though the night's sleep has rejuvenated their raising fingers, as we've had an all in already, on the very first hand in fact!

With John Racener and Yueqi Zhu entering a pre-flop raising war, the two warriors saw a {10-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop. Zhu immediately bet out, and Racener called.

On the {8-Clubs} turn, Zhu bet out a second consecutive time, and again without hesitation. Racener called.

Before the {5-Hearts} was even dealt, Zhu's remaining chips were in quicker than a hiccup and, although with a slight grimace, duly called by Racener.

As Zhu proudly showcased an {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Racener could only muster {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, allowing the shortstack to launch into a double through with the pocket rockets.

Some Vital Info...

You know those trivial details that you just don't find out from results databases?...

"John Cernuto enjoys playing softball and staying in shape."

"Daniel Mowczan works in IT and likes to play pinball."

"John Racener is into sports and enjoys the nightlife."

Many thanks to our announcer for those gems.

Shuffle Up and Deal

Players have been seated and announced (TD: "Come one people, we're playing for a bracelet here even though we're in the corner!" -- applause) and there's nothing in the way of a timely start. With around 15 minutes left of level 20, an omaha round up first, it's shuffle up and deal!

American Pie Final Table

Good afternoon, poker fans and welcome to the final day of this $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low-8 or Better marathon. Your reporters may be cobweb ridden and in desperate need of a coffee fix, but your remaining players seem to be surprisingly lively, Greg Pappas in particular looking like he's in high spirits.

As implied by the title, this is an all-American final table, perhaps showing the dominance of my across-the-pond friends in these games. Us Europeans don't appear to be accustomed to the world of limit, yet it's one that you guys seem to play, and subsequently succeed in with considerable ease.

So, who will take bracelet gold? Will it be the unrelenting focus of superstar Michael Mizrachi, the unstoppable aggression of John Racener or the undeniable experience of veteran 'Miami' John Cernuto? Only time will tell, but from this reporter's perspective, let's hope we won't have to wait till 5.45am again to find out.
