Play Has Ended for Today

After a very long day's play, the floor staff have decided to end play for today. Not a bad decision considering the tired expression on almost all of the remaining 18 players. The final two tables will come back to start play at 3pm PDT tomorrow, when we will play right down to a winner of the the 12th bracelet to be handed out this year. Please join us to find out who it will be. Good night or I should say, good morning from the Amazon room.

Elimination at the End of the Day

Sitting with just 8,000 in front of him Matthew Lynch moves all in from the cutoff and gets a caller from Steve Shkolnik in the small blind. Matthew is holding {Q-Spades} {9-Diamonds} to Steve's {K-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. All the way to the river on this one...

{J-Spades} {4-Spades} {2-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {10-Spades}

Steve didn't even need to pair his jack to eliminate Matthew but he did just to make sure. Steve adds a small amount to his stack now totalling 190,000.

Straight Over Straight

Jimmy Shultz is sitting in the cutoff and enters the pot with a raise to 10,000. John O'Brien is sitting in the small blind and he wants to defend it with a call. The flop is dealt...

{A-Hearts} {8-Spades} {7-Clubs}

John check-calls a 10,000 bet from Jimmy before the turn comes...

{5-Hearts}

Once more John check-calls a 10,000 bet from Jimmy before the river comes...

{6-Diamonds}

Once more John check-calls another 10,000 bet from Jimmy. Jimmy reveals {K-Hearts} {4-Hearts} for a straight to the eight but John can do one better holding {9-Spades} {8-Hearts} for a straight to the nine.

John is up to 115,000 after the hand while Jimmy slides back to 55,000.

Vinny in the Mix

Vinny Vinh makes a raise from early position and only finds one caller in the shape of Dean Oshiro in the small blind. The flop comes...

{6-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

But it's checked through before the turns comes...

{A-Hearts}

Dean leads out for a bet that is raised by Vinny. Dean calls so we head to the river...

{5-Hearts}

Dean slides his last 3,000 over the line and Vinny calls with {A-Spades} {J-Clubs} which is way ahead of Dean's {A-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}, meaning Dean is eliminated.

Funny Hand

Ali Eslami makes a raise to 10,000 before Gary Bogdanski moves all in for his last 12,000. Ali makes the call with his weak holding of {9-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} to Gary's {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. Gary comments that he's way ahead and in good shape to double up. His mood soon changes when the cards come...

{6-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {4-Clubs}

Meaning Ali makes the flush with his {2-Clubs}. A flush is a flush though and it's enough to send Gary to the rail.

The Chips Are Moving

The blinds are fairly high for a lot of remaining stacks to deal with, meaning players are getting committed to pots a lot more easily than before.

This hand all the chips went in the middle preflop between Michael Lawrence and Zac Fellows. Michael was holding {9-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} to Zac's {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. Michael managed to hit a nine but the the pocket tens held up and as Zac had the most chips it means Michael is eliminated late in the day.

Zac has 225,000 in chips after the hand.

Terrence Chan Sent Packing

Terrence Chan
Terrence Chan
After being seated between Vinny Vinh and Teddy 'Iceman' Monroe, Terrence Chan appeared visibly worn out.

He was in the small blind with a very short stack when everyone else folded around. Chan raised preflop and Vinh called. The flop came {7-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and Chan bet in the dark. Vinh, seeing Chan had only 5,000 left, raised to put Chan all in and Chan called.

Vinh turned over {K-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} and Chan revealed {10-Hearts} {6-Hearts}.

The turn and river brought running aces bringing no help to Chan who would walk away our 25th-place finisher.
