Statkiewicz On the Move

Stanley Statkiewicz just took a pot of 180,000 or so from Vanessa Selbst. He put in a big check-raise on the turn, and she folded. The board showed {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}, and after she folded he showed his Q-J-9-9 with two clubs.

Statkiewicz has the chip lead now, and Selbst has slipped to third.

The Tide is Turning

Stanley Statkiewicz folds, so we're heads up between Vanessa Selbst and Jamie Pickering. The flop is {A-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}.

Pickering is in the small blind and check-calls a bet from Selbst before the turn comes {3-Spades}.

Selbst bets 50,000 after Pickering checks once more.

The river comes {6-Hearts}.

One last time Pickering checks, only to face a 95,000 bet. There's no calling this time, though, as he moves all in for 193,000 more.

'You have aces?' asks Selbst, before calling. Her cards are quickly in the muck, though, when Pickering reveals {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} for a flopped full house.

Statkiewicz Doubles Up through Selbst

Stanley Statkiewicz raised to 46,000 from the button/under the gun, Jamie Pickering folded from the small blind, and Vanessa Selbst called from the big blind.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Selbst checked, Statkiewicz bet the pot, and Selbst reraised enough to put him all in. He called.

Selbst {6-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}
Statkiewicz {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Selbst had flopped top two. Statkiewicz had the diamond draw and his overpair. The turn was the {9-Spades}, giving Selbst a straight. But the river was the {10-Diamonds}, giving Statkiewicz his flush and the big pot.

Statkiewicz has moved up to about 825,000, while Selbst has slipped back to 1 million

King-High, Baby

Stan Statkiewicz just raised Vanessa Selbst to 145,000 after she bet 45,000 on a {7-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {6-Spades} board.

Statkiewicz then tabled {K-?} {9-?} {5-?} {10-?} for king high.

"I'm on tilt now," said Selbst.

What's More Important: Chips or Cards?

As we begin three-handed play, Vanessa Selbst has about 1.5 million, Stanley Statkiewicz has 380,000, and Jamie Pickering 311,000.

On the first hand of three-handed play, Selbst had the button and thus was first to act. She put in a raise, Statkiewicz folded, and then Pickering in the big blind asked her "Do you have anything at all?"

After he folded, she replied: "Chips."

Thom Schultz Eliminated in Fourth ($72,004)

Thom Schultz
Thom Schultz
Thom Schultz is our fourth-place finisher after being eliminated by Vanessa Selbst.

Schultz, already short-stacked, raised from the button and Selbst called from the big blind.

The flop came {10-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} and Selbst put Schultz all in. He made a reluctant call with {Q-?} {6-?} {A-?} {K-?}.

Selbst was ahead with {6-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts} {A-Spades} and had a chance to eliminate one more player.

The turn {6-Spades} and river {9-Diamonds} was enough, and the likable Schultz heads to the rail.
