Day 1 Concludes

That brings an end to our coverage of Day 1 of the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E tournament as the players bag and tag their chips. At last count we had 144 players surviving the day with the big stacks including Alexander Jung, Chris Gentile, Todd Brunson and Kevin Saul. Plenty of big names still lurk in the field including Phil Ivey, Marcel Luske, Mike Sexton, Jennifer Harman, Greg Raymer and Andy Bloch, so it should be a fascinating day's play tomorrow.

We'll be back at 3 p.m. tomorrow for Day 2 as we play down to a final table.

"The Croc" Takes a Bite Out of Zolotow

Omaha-8:

Billy "The Croc" Argyros has collected a nice pot off Steve Zolotow after getting a value bet in on the river on a board of {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Zolotow made the call and "The Croc" flipped {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} for kings and nines to take down the pot.

"The Croc" is one of Australia's best players with several H.O.R.S.E. titles to his name. With 16,000 in chips he'll be a player to watch on Day 2.

Rousso Misses Everything

In some frenzied betting action with both players leading at various stages in the hand, Vanessa Rousso called down her opponent on the river with just a pair of aces for the high. Her opponent showed down (J-J-X) {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}.

Rousso mucked her hand, stood with her hands on her head and walked around the table, animated that she had bricked on the river.

"Oh my god! I had four to the low, straight and flush draws and I missed everything!"

Rousso is now down to about 10,000 in chips.

Dance of the Poker Players

You can tell that the grind of the day is beginning to take its toll on players as the "dance of the poker player" has begun. About 10 to 12 players are roaming around, stretching, and doing whatever they can to stay awake. We have about 25 minutes left in this level.
