Scotty Nguyen Eliminated, Loudly

Busted, baby!
Busted, baby!
Scotty Nguyen open-shoves for 7,100. A gentleman in mid-position is considering the call. At this point an enormous crowd gathers around the table, as Nguyen is shouting, encouraging the gentleman to call.

"Come on, baby! I'm sick of this! Come on, knock me out!"

Eventually Mr. Mid-Position makes the call.

Nguyen: {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Mr. Mid-Position: {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} ("I'm alive!" he says for some reason.)

Board: {8-Clubs} {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {9-Spades}

"Royal!" shouts Nguyen, again for no reason, and high-fives a railer -- much of the fuss accompanying this hand has been needless, and in a last, glorious, surreal act before departing, Nguyen hands his mid-position assassin a large plastic peanut.

Waking Up a Sleeping Bear

Dreaming of aces
Dreaming of aces
He may be trying to steal forty winks during this final level, but Barry Greenstein sleeps with one eye open, and is always ready to pounce. With his head slumped in his hand and his eyelids gradually becoming more heavy as the clock ticks by, Greenstein suddenly awakes from his slumber to pop out a preflop raise.

As the action makes its way through to the big blind, he checks his hand, shakes his head and jokes, "Did you wake up with a hand?" before finally making the fold.

He may look harmless enough, but Greenstein still has one eye on the game, even when he's sleeping...

Nothing Fazes Bill Gazes

Bill Gazes looked cucumber cool when his tournament life was on the line recently. We didn't fully catch his opponent's hand, but believe Gazes was up against a small pair with A-10. Either way, Gazes made top pair on a K-A-4-2-7 board and duly doubled up to over 38,000 in chips.
