Torosyan Crippled, then Eliminated in 3rd Place ($50,186)

Levon Torosyan - 3rd Place
Levon Torosyan - 3rd Place
Levon Torosyan has been running out of time. He decided to take on Mike Rocco, who completed the {A-Diamonds} after Rocco brought it in with the {2-Diamonds}. Rocco raised, and Torosyan called.

Torosyan check-called fourth and fifth streets after Rocco bet. He then led out for a bet on sixth street, which Rocco called. On seventh street, Torosyan was left with only 26,000 behind. The boards were:

Torosyan: {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {2-Spades}
Rocco: {2-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {7-Spades} {3-Spades}

Torosyan bet 20,000. Rocco thought it over a long time, then made the call. Torosyan's buried cards were blanks, he only had a pair of deuces.

"That's all you have?" Rocco asked. He flipped his hand and showed a pair of jacks. "YEEEES!" he shouted, clapping his hands.

Barbieri gave him a weird look, then asked why he didn't raise Torosyan all in for his last 6,000 if he was going to call. Rocco didn't respond.

Torosyan managed to triple up once to 18,000, but succumbed on the following hand when Rocco made trip queens. Torosyan played well all afternoon, nursing his short stack as far as he could take it. He earns $50,186 as a result.

No Break Yet

We had a break scheduled for right now, the end of Level 20. However, Levon Torosyan just lost a big pot and finds himself crippled down to just 6,000 chips. As a result, the players have unanimously decided to play on until he is eliminated.

Undaunted, Barbieri Strikes Back

Al Barbieri may have taken a few recent hits, but he hasn't become any shyer. He completed Levon Torosyan's bring-in with the {K-Spades}. Torosyan called with the {9-Clubs}.

Barbieri bet fourth and fifth street when his cards came {3-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} to Torosyan's {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs}. Torosyan called on fourth, then raised on fifth showing three to a straight and three to a flush. But Sugar Bear never backed down, calling the raise, checking sixth street through when he pulled a {5-Spades} to Torosyan's {4-Diamonds}, then betting the river dark. Torosyan folded, apparently having missed all of his draws.

The Case Deuce

Barbieri brought it in with the {4-Hearts} in the door, and Rocco raised, showing the {9-Hearts}. Barbieri called.

On fourth street, Barbieri bet his {6-Diamonds}, and Rocco after drawing the {3-Diamonds}.

On fifth, Barbieri bet out once more with the {2-Hearts}, and Rocco raised, showing the {Q-Diamonds}. Barbieri called.

On sixth street, Rocco drew the {2-Spades}, and he led out. Before he had even lifted his chips toward the pot, Barbieri had a raise out on the table. Rocco called. Both men checked seventh street.

Rocco tabled his hand first: {2-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} / {9-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Spades} / {6-Hearts}. Barbieri flashed his {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} and let out a hiss as he mucked his hand.

"Yes!" came the big reaction from Rocco. He slammed his hands down on the table, rattling his chips as he let out another, "Yes!" With that pot, Rocco has climbed up over 250,000.

Barbieri Makes a Single Pair Stand Up Again

Al Barbieri and Mike Rocco tangle again. Barbieri started x-x / {J-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {8-Spades} and bet every street except fourth street. Rocco called all the way, coming x-x / {6-Spades} {K-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. Barbieri bet the river and tabled a pair of aces when Rocco called. Rocco peeked down at a pair of kings and four to a straight, then mucked his hand.

Barbieri has a commanding chip lead now.

Barbieri Takes Three in a Row

Al Barbieri has taken back all the momentum, He took a small pot from Mike Rocco on fourth street, then punished Levon Torosyan in back-to-back hands. First, Barbieri made an open pair of aces on sixth street against Torosyan's board of all small cards, prompting a quick fold from Torosyan.

Then, on the very next hand, Barbieri started with the {Q-Hearts} against Torosyan's {5-Hearts}. Torosyan made open fives on fourth street against Barbieri's {J-Hearts} and double-bet them. Barbieri called anyway. They went all the way down to the river, checking the river through. Barbieri had a pair of queens. Torosyan looked at his hand three times, muttered an expletive under his breath, then angrily mucked his hand.

Barbieri now has about 800,000 chips and is in command of the tournament.

Aces Full, Michael

Levon Torosyan and Michael Rocco just got tangled up again in a man-to-man battle. Torosyan brought it in with the {7-Hearts}, and Rocco called with his {J-Hearts}.

Rocco picked up the {10-Hearts} on fourth street, and he bet out. Torosyan's {8-Clubs} was good enough for him to call.

On fifth and sixth streets, Torosyan led out both times with his {A-Diamonds}, {A-Spades}, and Rocco called with his {Q-Clubs}, {9-Clubs} respectively. Torosyan bet again on seventh, and Rocco called.

Levon Torosyan showed down the winner: {7-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} / {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} {9-Hearts}. His full house is plenty good enough to award him the pot.
