Jeremy Joseph Unofficial Day 4 Chip Leader
That brings an end to our coverage from the Amazon Room of the Rio on Day 4 of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Today saw 474 hopefuls return with the action fast and furious throughout the day. Jeremy Joseph carried the chip lead for most of the day, and despite losing a monster pot in the final minutes of play, should hang onto a slight overnight chip lead with Cristian Dragomir and David "Chino" Rheem lurking close behind.

Noteable players still in the field include Mark Vos, Gus Hansen, Victor Ramdin, Alexander Kostritsyn, Allen Cunningham, Jeff Madsen, Tiffany Michelle, Mike Matusow, Kara Scott, Hoyt Corkins and, the last remaining WSOP World Champion in the field, Phil Hellmuth.

We'll have the updated chip counts and redraw for the final 189 players as soon as it comes to hand.

Play recommences at noon tomorrow -- we look forward to your company once again!

Big Call Propels Marquis

On the last, lengthy hand of the night over at Table #15, Larry Wright raised to 28,000, Craig Marquis called, and Markus Feurle raised to 90,000. Wright called, as did Marquis.

The flop came {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Wright bet 100,000, Marquis called, and Feurle folded.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}. Wright bet 150,000 this time, and Marquis again called.

The river was the {6-Spades}. Wright pushed all in. Wright had Marquis well covered -- indeed Wright only had about 140,000 behind. He tanked for several minutes. "I don't know what to do," he said. "I'm never good here." More minutes passed. "I have 14 big blinds, that's not terrible," he said, indicating where he'd be if he folded.

Finally he decided to call. "I have jacks, you win," he said, turning over his {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Much to Marquis' surprise, Wright mucked.

Marquis ends the night with just over a million, while Wright has 826,000.

A Big Pot at the Death

Jeremy Joseph and Cristian Dragomir saw a {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} {6-Spades} flop and Joseph check-called Dragomir's 110,000 bet. He also check-called Dragomir's 200,000 bet on the turn when the {2-Diamonds} fell. And Joseph also check-called Dragomir's 345,000 bet when the {K-Hearts} fell on the river.

Cristian then showed {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} for trips, and after Joseph mucked he said he'd held pocket aces. Dragomir is now up to 2.065 million while Joseph slipped to 2.175 million.

Montgomery Beneficiary of Prabhu Boo-Boo

It was a multi-way limped pot. The flop came {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Suresh Prabhu checked as did others, then Scott Montgomery bet 30,000, it folded to Prabhu who called, and everyone else got out of the way.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs}. Prabhu checked, Montgomery bet 150,000, then Prabhu pushed all in. Montgomery called with his remaining 210,000.

Prabhu: {7-Spades}{3-Spades}
Montgomery: {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}

The river brought the {A-Diamonds}, and Montgomery took the big pot with his two small pair. He's up to 1.2 million, and Prabhu falls to 860,000.

Edward Roger Eliminated

Sean Davis raised from the cutoff, Edward Roger moved all in from the button and Davis called.

Roger: {A-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}

Davis: {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {6-Hearts} and Davis' pocket eights held up to eliminate Roger. Davis is now up to 900,000 after spending most of the day relatively short-stacked.

Eric Bremond Eliminated

Eric Bremond moved all in from late position holding {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} but Karle Wilson made an easy call with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} to give Bremond some outs with his wheel draw but the {8-Diamonds} on the turn and {3-Diamonds} on the river were enough to send him to the rail.

David Rheem Eliminates Steve Billirakis

After David "Chino" Rheem raised to 30,000 Steve Billirakis moved in from the big blind for his last 260,000. Rheem called and his {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} were well ahead of Billirakis' {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}. The flop came {9-Spades} {J-Spades} {3-Clubs} and the {7-Spades} gave Rheem a flush draw and Billirakis a gutshot, but the {2-Clubs} came on the river and Billirakis was eliminated. Rheem is now all the way up to two million in chips.
