Frankenberger Draws First Blood

The first seven or eight hand Andy Frankenberger and Joshua Evans played heads up were decided preflop by either a fold or a raise from the player on the button.

After a bit of chip trading, Josh Evans made it 105,000 to go only to be three-bet to 300,000 by Frankenberger. The flop fell {9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and the action went check-check. Then turn brought {5-Hearts} and it checked around once again. The {Q-Spades} came on the river and Frankenberger bet 150,000 causing Evans to muck his cards and Frankenberger to scoop the pot.

Robert Shortway - Eliminated in 3rd Place
Robert Shortway - Eliminated in 3rd Place

Robert Shortway moved all in for his last 95,000 on the button, Joshua Evans called in the small blind, and Andy Frankenberger called in the big.

Evans and Frankenberger checked every street as the board ran {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}, and Frankenberger opened {5-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a straight.

Shortway opened {q-Spades}{10-Hearts} for just queen-high, and the Marine shook his opponent's hands before exiting the Thunderdome.

Shortway Crippled

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

After a raise by Josh Evans from the button and a call by Robert Shortway from the big blind, the players saw a board of {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Shortway led out only to be raised by Evans. Shortway quickly announced that he was all in for a whopping 3,320,000 more. Shortway actually had a bit more than Evans, so this pot was for Evans' tournament life.

Evans announced a call but was behind the two pair of Shortway's {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Evan's tabled {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and needed help.

The turn came {4-Clubs} and proved no help to Evans. However, the river fell {4-Hearts}, pairing the board and making Evan's jacks and fours the best hand. Evans doubled up to over 6,500,000 and Shortway has been crippled, sitting around 100,000.

Andy Frankenberger started with the button and raised to 80,000. Robert Shortway called out of the small blind, Joshua Evans defended his big blind, and the flop came down {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. The action checked to Frankenberger who continued for 100,000, and only Evans called.

Both players checked the turn ({6-Hearts}), and the river ({5-Hearts}), and Evans opened up {a-Hearts}{3-Spades} for a pair of aces. They were good, and he raked in the pot.

Tyler Kenney opened the action for 70,000 only to be reraised by Josh Evans to 250,000. Kenney moved the rest of his stack all in and Evans made the call.

Kenney: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Evans: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

The flop brought much drama, falling {4-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, pairing Evans but giving Kenney a flush draw as well as a gutshot straight draw. The turn came {2-Clubs} and the river bricked out for Kenney as well, coming {J-Spades}. He will take home $138,847 for his efforts.
