Andrew Blumen Eliminated in 10th Place ($8,800)

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante
Andrew Blumen - Eliminated in 10th Place
Andrew Blumen - Eliminated in 10th Place

Andrew Blumen entered the day as one of the short stacks, and in just a half hour has been eliminated. Unfortunately we were unable to catch the hand, but according to Eric Buchman (the player who busted him), Blumen had tens-up going to seventh street and Buchman had three-pair sevens, fours and fives. Fortunately for Buchman he pulled a five on the river, making a full house and eliminating Blumen from the tournament.

The remaining nine players are redrawing for the unofficial final table.

Ylon Schwartz Eliminated in 11th Place ($6,949)

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante
Ylon Schwartz - Eliminated in 11th Place
Ylon Schwartz - Eliminated in 11th Place

Ylon Schwartz - (x) (x) / {2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} / (x)
Jonathan Spinks - (x) (x) / {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} / (x)

Schwartz brought in with the {2-Clubs}, and Spinks completed with the {k-Spades} showing. Schwartz called. Spinks led out on fourth, Schwartz called, and both players checked on fifth. Spinks led out again on sixth, but this time Schwartz raised. Spinks called.

Spinks quickly checked seventh, Schwartz bet blind, and Spinks sweated his down card before raising.

"F***," Schwartz muttered. "Wow...I call..."

Spinks opened {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for a full house, prompting Schwartz to leap out of his seat in disbelief. Schwartz mucked his hand, and was left with only a handful of purple T500 chips, while a massive pot was pushed Spinks' way.

Schwartz doubled the next hand, but was eliminated soon after.

Ghaneian Crippled, then Eliminated in 12th Place ($6,949)

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante
Arash Ghaneian
Arash Ghaneian

Ghaneian: (x)(x) / {k-Spades}{2-Spades}{q-Spades}{5-Diamonds} / (x)
Buchman: (x)(x) / {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades} / (x)

Arash Ghaneian is the first causality of the day. He started the day with 77,000, but lost most of it on the hand above. Eric Buchman and Ghaneian capped the bets on third street, then Ghaneian led out on fourth and fifth street, and Buchman called both times. On sixth street, Buchman took over the betting when he paired his five, then bet seventh as well. Ghaneian called both times, then mucked when Buchman revealed {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for a six high straight.

Three hands later, Ghaneian was all in on third street, and fell behind early when Vasili Lazarou made a pair of aces on fourth. Ghaneian was drawing to an inside straight draw on seventh street, and missed, kncoking him out of the tournament.

The Home Stretch

Alessio Isaia - Chip leader
Alessio Isaia - Chip leader

Today, a winner will (probably) be crowned in Event #5: $1,500 Seven Card Stud.

Twelve players will return for Day 3, including chip leader Alessio Isaia (232,500), 2009 November Niner Eric Buchman (220,500), 2011 PCA Super-High Roller Champion Eugene Katchalov (212,500), and 2008 November Niner Ylon Schwartz (70,000). Buchman was atop the leader board throughout Day 2, while Isaia made a late surge to capture the chip lead at the end of the day.

Kai Landry (200,000) and Jonathan Spinks (133,000) also trended up throughout Day 2. Spinks would've ended the day with over 200,000 as well, but he took a rough beat against Schwartz at the end of the day.

The action resumes in about 30 minutes here in the Amazon Room. We will start at Level 19, and play until we have a champion or the end of Level 28. Stay tuned to PokerNews for live updates from this and every bracelet event at the 2011 World Series of Poker!
