Double Double for Matros

Level 21

Matt Matros was on life support. He got his last bet in on a {j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop with {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for middle pair. Brandon Meyers held {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and needed to hit. The {9-Hearts} turn was a brick, and the {j-Clubs} river gave Matros two pair and more than 200,000.

The players realized that the clock had rolled over to the next level already, meaning that hand probably should have been no limit. On one of the first no limit hands they played, Matros moved all in for 209,000, and Meyers took another shot at eliminating him with a call out of the big blind. Matros had the lead with {a-Spades}{10-Spades} against Meyers' {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs} board was clean, and Matros doubled to 442,000.

Meyers Gives Some Back

Level 21

Limits are huge. With just 87 bets on the whole table, every pot is important. Brandon Meyers had just taken a huge lead with a big pot against Jonathan Lane when he got involved in this hand. He raised, Matt Matros reraised from the small blind, and Matt Hawrilenko made it four bets from the big blind. Meyers and Matros called.

Flop: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} - Matros checked, Hawrilenko bet, and Meyers flatted. Matros folded, leaving himself with 160,000.

Turn: {8-Hearts} - Hawrilenko checked to Meyers, who bet. Then Hoss raised to 100,000, and Meyers called the second bet.

River: {8-Diamonds} - Hawrilenko fired one more bet, and Meyers called. Hawrilenko showed {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for top two pair, which won the 700,000-chip pot as Meyers flashed {a-}{q-} on their to the muck.

Meyers Rolls over Lane

Level 21

Brandon Meyers limped his small blind, and Jonathan Lane checked his option. The flop was {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Meyers bet out, and Lane raised. Meyers called and checked the {2-Hearts} turn. This time Lane checked behind. The {a-Spades} river got another check from Meyers. Lane bet, and Meyers raised. Lane called to see that Meyers had rivered a wheel with {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. After that pot, Meyers is up to 1.775 million and Lane is down to 640,000.

Matros Sliding and Myers Flying

Level 21

Brandon Myers raised on the button and Matt Matros called from the big blind. The flop came {2-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {3-Diamonds} and Matros check-raised the flop on Myers and he called. The turn came {5-Clubs}, Matros checked and Myers bet. Matros called to see the {8-Clubs} river. Matros check-called a river bet from Meyers, but mucked when Meyers showed {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for the wheel.

The very next hand Meyers raised from the cutoff and Matros three bet from the small blind. Meyers called and the flop came {10-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {A-Clubs}. Matros check-called the flop and the turn came {A-Spades}. Matros bet, Meyers raised and Matros called. The river came {J-Clubs}, Matros checked, Meyers bet and Matros folded.

Lane's Ace Takes Pot

Brian Smith opened on the button with a raise and Jonathan Lane called from the big blind. The flop came {2-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} and Lane check-raised Smith, who called. The turn came {4-Clubs}, Lane bet and Smith called. The river came {2-Diamonds} and Lane bet again. Smith called and mucked when Lane tabled {A-Spades} {5-Clubs} for two pair with an ace kicker.

Nikolay Losev Eliminated in 6th Place ($52,687)

Level 21
Nikolay Losev - 6th Place
Nikolay Losev - 6th Place

Shortly after switching to limit, Brian Smith raised on the button. Nikolay Losev reraised from the big blind, putting in most of his stack with the 75,000-chip bet. Smith called to see the {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop rather than putting Losev all in from the start. Losev tossed in his last 22,000, and Smith called. Time to turn 'em up.

Losev: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for the nut flush draw
Smith: {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for top two pair

The flop had hit both players but left the at-risk Losev needing a heart. The {3-Clubs} turn and {3-Spades} river were the wrong color, sending Losev home in sixth place. Smith has 940,000.

The flop came {3-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {K-Hearts}, Hawrilenko checked, Losev checked and Lane bet out 40,000. Hawrilenko folded and Losev raised to 120,000.
