Somerville Doubles Through Failla

Jason Somerville
Jason Somerville

Will "The Thrill" Failla made it 125,000 to go on the button and Jason Somerville moved all in for 460,000 from the big blind. Failla called with the {A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, but only had one overcard against the {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} for Somerville.

The board ran out {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Somerville doubled to nearly one million in chips.

Deeb Takes the Lead

From the cutoff seat, Shaun Deeb raised to 125,000. Gus Hansen reraised from the small blind to 365,000 and play folded back to Deeb. He reraised and made it 785,000 to go. Hansen took some time, then mucked his hand and Deeb scooped the pot.

With that pot, Deeb has taken back pole position and just under three million in chips.

ElkY Out; Bubble Time

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier raised all in from under the gun for 770,000 and Shaun Deeb reshoved from the button. Everyone else folded and it was Deeb left to do battle with Grospellier.

Grospellier: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Deeb: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The flop came down {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Grospellier stayed in front with his jacks. The turn was the {Q-Spades} and catapulted Deeb into the lead with a better hand before the river sealed the deal and sent Grospellier out the door when the {Q-Diamonds} hit.

The remaining four players are now on the big $400,000 bubble.

Back in Action

Level 18 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

The players are back in their seats after taking an unscheduled break from play. What we can tell you is that Shaun Deeb and Gus Hansen spent a few minutes mingling separately with some of their railbirds hanging out watching while Will "The Thrill" Failla, Jason Somerville and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier walked about 40 feet away from the table to have a quiet group discussion. Upon returning, Somerville yelled out, "All right, let's play for it all!" with a laugh.

From the small blind, Gus Hansen raised to 165,000 and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier called from the big blind. The flop came down {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Hansen checked his hand.

"How many hearts?" asked Grospellier.

"Well... I have a lot of heart," said Hansen. "But that doesn't help my hand."

Hansen then checked and Grospellier checked behind. The turn was the {5-Spades} and both players checked again. They also checked the {3-Diamonds} on the river.

Hansen tabled the {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds} to beat Grospellier's {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and win the pot.

Awad AWOL

Hani Awad was recently all in from the big blind for his last 50,000 and moved to 200,000 after doubling through Shaun Deeb. Awad's run has just ended, though, at the hands of Gus Hansen.

Hansen raised to 155,000 and Awad called all in for 120,000. Everyone else folded and it was Hansen's {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} versus Awad's {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Awad hit the rail.
