Cassidy Stays on Top

Joe Cassidy
Joe Cassidy

The very next update could've very well been about Scotty Nguyen taking the chip lead, but Joe Cassidy just pulled in a big pot putting him far in front again.

From the button Joe Cassidy raised and Scotty Nguyen defended his big blind. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Nguyen check-raised, Cassidy called.

The turn was the {6-Spades} and Nguyen bet 160,000, Cassidy called. The river was the {Q-Diamonds} and now it was Nguyen who check-called.

Cassidy turned over {Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. He had two pair for the high and used his ace-seven in order to take down the low.

Scotty Reaches New High

We just saw the first pre flop three-bet of the match, and at the end of the hand we noted Scotty Nguyen's biggest chip stack since the start of the day.

Nguyen raised from the button after which Joe Cassidy made a re-raise. Nguyen called and the flop came down {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Cassidy bet, Nguyen raised and Cassidy called.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and Cassidy check-called. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Cassidy checked to Nguyen once more. Nguyen threw out a 160,000 chip bet and Cassidy folded {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} face up.

Short Break

Level 29 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

We are at the end of this level, and both players have agreed on a short five-minute break.

Cassidy Needed This

After starting today with a big chip lead, Joe Cassidy probably couldn't help himself thinking about on what wrist to put his gold bracelet.

These thoughts were knocked out of him pretty quickly as Scotty Nguyen mounted a serious comeback. We just saw Cassidy win a decent pot, and this probably gives him a bit more confidence in winning this one.

Cassidy raised from the button and Nguyen defended his big blind. The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Nguyen check-raised Cassidy's bet and the call was made.

The turn was the {A-Spades} and both players checked. The river was the {3-Spades} and Nguyen check-called a 120,000 chip bet.

Cassidy turned over {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and with a wheel he took down both parts of the pot.

Scotty Comes Back

Joe and Scotty
Joe and Scotty

The match seems to go Scotty Nguyen's way in the last couple of hands, as he's now back up to 1.38 million.

Nguyen raised from the button and Joe Cassidy defended his big blind. The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was the {K-Hearts} and it got checked again.

The river was the {8-Hearts} and Cassidy bet, Nguyen raised and Cassidy called.

Nguyen showed {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and raked in the pot with a broadway straight.
