Updated Chip Counts

Jorgensen's back-to-back quads have given him a commanding chip lead. Pescatori is now on the short stack.

Theo Jorgensen 1,314,000
Sorel Mizzi 760,000
Erik Friberg 581,000
David Penly 250,000
Eric Dalby 235,000
Max Pescatori 180,000

Dalby Survives

Dalby's sound
Dalby's sound
Eric Dalby limped UTG for 10,000, Sorel Mizzi joined the party on the button, Theo Jorgensen made it 50,000 from the big blind and both Dalby and Mizzi made the call.

With Jorgensen checking the {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} flop, Dalby bet the pot (viturally all his chips). Both opponents folded.

Chris Ferguson Eliminated in 7th Place (£33,000)

Chris Ferguson - 7th Place
Chris Ferguson - 7th Place
No one hits quads like Theo Jorgensen hits quads.

Chris Ferguson got his entire stack in on a flop of {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} and Theo Jorgensen made the call.

Ferguson {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {8-Clubs}

Jorgensen {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {3-Clubs}

Jorgensen flopped a set of sixes, but Ferguson was in good shape with the nut flush draw and a straight draw. The turn, though, was a total disaster for Ferguson as the {6-Clubs} landed, making Jorgensen quads yet again. The inconsequential {9-Diamonds} fell on the river and Jesus hit the rail in seventh place, collecting £33,000 for his efforts today.

Jason Mercier Eliminated in 8th Place (£26,812)

Jason Mercier - 8th Place
Jason Mercier - 8th Place
With just under 100,000 in the middle and a {10-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{A-Spades} lying patiently on the felt, Jason Mercier found himself all in for around 115,000 with {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} against the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} of Theo Jorgensen.

With Mercier looming over the table, his breath held, the turn came a most welcome {9-Hearts} to give him a straight to the jack. Mercier clenched his fist in silent celebration, but the fat lady wasn't singing just yet, as the board could still pair to give the Dane the pot.

The board may have paired, but it was the {A-Diamonds} that hit to give Jorgensen quad aces and send the young American out in eighth. One again, the poker gods display their teasing ways.

David Penly Doubles Through Sorel Mizzi

Saved by the river!
Saved by the river!
Sorel Mizzi opened for a pot-sized raise, David Penly re-potted, leaving himself with only a few chips behind. Mizzi set him all in and Penly called.

Penly {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {7-Spades}

Mizzi {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}

The flop was {5-Hearts} {4-Spades} {2-Hearts}, Mizzi's pair of jacks still leading. The turn was the {8-Spades}, no help to Penly, but the {A-Diamonds} on the river certainly was, allowing his king kicker to play. Penly's timely river draw-out doubled his stack to about 270,000.

Penly Struggling

Dave Penly is down to 130,000 and looking somewhat frustrated. His last encounter was against Italian Pirate Max Pescatori. Penly raised it up to 30,000 preflop, but was reraised to a total of 80,000 by Pescatori in late position. Penly folded with a wince.

Mercier Still Falling

Jason Mercier and Sorel Mizzi took a flop of {10-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {5-Spades}. They checked it, as well as the {3-Clubs} that landed on the turn. The river was the {3-Spades}. Mercier checked a third time, Mizzi bet 54,000 and Mercier made the call.

Mizzi showed {6-Hearts} {4-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} for trip threes and took down the pot, leaving Mercier on only 125,000 in chips.

Mercier Shown No Mercy

A large pile of chips settling in the middle signified the development of a big pot, and when I joined the action, the board read {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} with Jason Mercier facing a foreboding bet of 124,000 from Theo Jorgensen. After a few seconds, Mercier made the call.

On the {A-Spades} river, Jorgensen casually waved all in, as if ushering away a foul smell. No chips found their way into the middle, but Jorgensen had around 400,000 and it was obvious he had his man covered.

With 210,000 before him, Mercier's body sagged as Jorgensen made his move. As pensive as ever, he pitched up tent in the think tank and dwelt for a good few minutes. As Jorgensen remained stationary, a tortured Mercier removed his cap and shook his head continuously as he continued to mull.

Just as I was thinking complimentary thoughts about the patience of the table, the clock was called (by whom, I remain unsure) and a one minute warning was given. A few moments later, Mercier made the fold.
