“I love this game!” exclaims Frédéric Gambier. The electrician from the French city of Liancourt has only been playing poker for about a year, but his enthusiasm and enjoyment of the game has delivered his biggest victory in his short career; entry to the World Series of Poker Main Event. The adrenalin felt when playing close poker games is what drew Frédéric to poker, who also groups cinema and soccer as his favorite hobbies. Playing mostly in online poker rooms, Frédéric prefers the No Limit Texas Holdem variety of poker and has been honing his skills in both ring games and tournaments. Having never played at the WSOP or at a major tournament before, the Frenchman was “very happy” to have won entry to this year’s Main Event. He commented, “it was very hard to believe I [had] won!” Well, he better believe it, because come this July Frédéric will join the ranks at Team PokerNews and play in poker’s biggest annual tournament, the World Series of Poker Main Event. We look forward to the enthusiasm that Frédéric will bring to the Main Event and wish him all the best.
