Mark van der Ben won his place on Team PokerNews through a freeroll at Everest Poker when he caught his heads-up opponent unawares, “When he called my all-in and I had 2 pair on the turn, I knew I had him!” Mark’s victory sent him into frenzy, “I started yelling and shouting to my girlfriend,” he commented, saying it was one of the best moments in his life. Mark became interested in poker two years ago when one of his friends showed him how to play Texas Holdem. The Dutchman was hooked ever since. Specializing in No Limit Texas Holdem, Mark started playing socially in home games with friends before graduating to online play. From there, the administrator at Baat Accountants spent most of his time playing online Sit-n-Go tournaments before mixing it up with some ring games. The day after he qualified for the World Series Main Event (his biggest victory to date), Mark called all his poker buddies and invited them round for a few drinks. “A fantastic evening that was”, recalled Mark. With poker sitting alongside soccer and foosball as his hobbies, we look forward to Mark’s first ever appearance with Team PokerNews at the 2007 World Series Main Event.
