Turner: leading the charge into Day ThreeDay 2 of the $2,500 Omaha/Stud 8-or-better Concludes
So as the bagging and tagging process commences, it looks like tomorrow might be another long, hard fought day with two nearly-full tables returning for Day Three. The chip lead has been vied for by Phil Ivey, Carlos Mortensen, Steve Wong and two or three others during the day, but it looks like Jon 'Pearljammer' Turner might have taken that honor tonight.
It looks like play will restart at 1pm, despite the pleas of Matt Kelly who asked, "What bribery will it take for it to start at four? People like me that check full houses need their sleep."

Alan 'Big Al' Emerson Eliminated in 15th Place ($8,198)
In one of the last Omaha hands of the day, Peter Gelencser opened with a raise from middle position with Alan 'Big Al' Emerson calling in the cutoff. Carlos Mortensen also made the call from the small blind.
The flop arrived
and Mortensen led out at the pot. Gelencser folded and Emerson called.
The turn brought the
and Mortensen bet again before Emerson moved all in for a few thousand more, with Mortensen committed to the call.

Emerson was set for at least half until the

"You make the best wheels," chirped Mark Scott to a jovial Mortensen, as Emerson departs on the close of Day 2 play in 15th place for $8,198 in prize money. -

Gelencser Back in the Game
A Stud hi-lo hand which started off with three players calling Mark Scott's completion (showing the
) ended up heads up between Peter Gelencser and Carlos Mortensen.
Mortensen bet fourth street, but called when Gelencser bet his on fifth, and also when he bet his 
. At the final card, their hands looked like:

Gelencser bet 11k all in at the last card, and Mortensen paid him off, mucking when he was shown the down

Ivey Fading?
Maybe it's getting late or maybe Phil Ivey is still a little rattled from that last hand. Whatever is it, the aura of Ivey is starting to fade late on Day 2 of this event as he's just taken another solid whack to his stack.
His opponent this time was Frank Debus who scooped the pot with a flush and eighty-seven low. Debus is up to 240,000 as Ivey slips to 175,000. -

Raymond Davis Eliminated in 16th Place ($8,198)
Raymond Davis has been sent to the rail after his last chips were committed on the turn in a hand against Jon Turner and Phil Ivey.
The board was
when the hit the river. Turner fired out a bet and Ivey made a crying call.
Turner revealed
as Ivey threw his head and hands in the air in disgust (as much as Ivey gets emotional anyway), obviously pained by the river card. As Ivey bemoaned his luck, Davis mucked his cards and after a little more inaudible muttering Ivey also released.
Turner scoops a huge pot as Davis departs in 16th place for $8,198. -

Petering Out
Peter Gelencser has had a rough half level. He just lost two small pots in a row, the first one a cagey fourway Omaha hand which saw him giving it a bet on the flop when it checked to him on the button, but checking the rest and folding to a Chad Brown river bet on a board of
.
The next hand he saw another fourway flop, and this time it was checked all the way down by small blind Mark Scott, Carlos Mortensen, Matt Kelly and Gelencser himself.
On the river with the board standing
Scott bet out, called by Mortensen and Gelencser. He showed 
which took the high, while Mortensen's 
got the low. He's down to what looks like under 40k. -

Brown by a Nose
From the button, Chad Brown was all in preflop for his last chips with Peter Gelencser taking a shot to knock off the pro from the small blind.

The hands were very similar, but Gelencser took the lead on the flop. The 
on the turn didn't change anything, however the on the river put Brown's in front by a nose and he is fortunate to double through to about 60,000, with Gelencser slipping to 90,000. -

Mark Scott came up as the two-table redraw was being put into effect and said, "You know, a very strange situation occurred right here on this table a little while ago. There were no less than four platinum Rolex watches around this table. Four."
