    Brett Richey Eliminated

    Omaha Hi/Lo:

Brett Richey was heads up for a bracelet earlier today in Event 27, $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi/Lo. He won't have to dream about a similar scenario in this H.O.R.S.E. event.

Richey got the last of his chips in holding {A-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts}. The board showed {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {6-Spades}; Richey's low straight was no good against his opponent's {9-Spades} {7-Spades} X - X. Richey can now go out and celebrate his second-place finish from earlier today.

    This Ain't the Internet, Son

    Hold'em:

A pot developed as a battle of the blinds between Justin Bonomo and Mike Matusow. Bonomo opened with a raise from the small blind that Matusow promptly reraised. Bonomo called and then checked the {K-Clubs} {3-Spades} {6-Clubs} flop to Matusow. He fired a bet that Bonomo called.

Both players checked the {A-Hearts} turn and the {A-Spades} river. Matusow's {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, aces and tens, was no match for Bonomo's {A-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}, trip aces.

"Good flop for ya," said a disgusted Matusow. He then added, "That was an internet call on the flop."

    A Smattering of Pre-Dinner Chippies

From the Miranda Room, where there are still roughly ten tables:

    Matt Savage - 5700
    Barry Greenstein - 8200
    Marco Traniello - 2100
    Dario Alioto - 2100
    Mickey Appleman - 6600
    Brett Richey - 2200
    Andy Black - 6500
    Jen Harman - 9100
    Annie Duke - 9200
    Erick Lindgren - 8800
    Michael Craig - 2100
    Jason Mercier - 7200

It's worth noting that Harman, Mercier, Duke and Lindgren are all on the same table. They've been making some poker widows over there, it seems.

    From parts of Brasilia:

    Mimi Tran - 8200
    Phil Ivey - 5525
    Marcel Luske - 4350
    Howard Lederer - 8100
    Chris Ferguson - 3800
    Nick Frangos - 4350
    Todd Brunson - 1800
    Gavin Griffin - 700
    Daniel Negreanu - 7650
    Justin Smith - 15000 (!)
    Maria Ho - 2875
Billy "the Croc" Argyros - 3400
    Dutch Boyd - 2850
    Bryan Micon - 3300
    Mike Matusow - 2600
    Shannon Elizabeth - 6800

    Things That Drive People Insane

    Razz:

"I remember when I worked for $100 a day and how much money it was," said Mike Matusow as Justin Bonomo was getting involved in a hand with two opponents. "And then when I gambled $80 of it away, how I wanted to commit suicide."

Bonomo may have wanted to commit suicide during the razz hand. He called a bet on fourth street showing x-x / 3-6 against x-x / 2-4 and x-x / 2-7. The player with 2-4 caught a seven on fifth street against a queen for the third player in the hand and a king for Bonomo. One bet was enough to win the pot at that point.

Matusow has about 3,500. Bonomo is on 2,700.

A Couple of Hands of Stud

In the Amazon Room, Shannon Shorr scooped a 2,200-chip pot in the Stud Hi/Lo round with two pair, sevens and threes. He's up to almost 7,000 in chips.

Over in the Miranda Room, Ray Davis was all in against one opponent in Stud. Going into the river, Davis showed a pair of queens and a flush draw against his opponent's two pair, nines and fives.

"I bet I miss everything," said Davis. "Erick, I'll bet you $100 that I miss everything. You want to bet?"

Lindgren declined, and it was an excellent choice. Davis picked up a fifth club to go along with the four already in his hand to make a flush and take down the pot.

"You would have won, Erick!" said Davis with a laugh. "I guess I can't always miss everything."

We All Can Use a Little Luck

    Hold'em:

Phil Ivey already has two bracelets in the 2009 WSOP. But even he can stand some luck once in a while.

Ivey was the big blind and called a raise from a player in early position. Ivey called down all the way to the river where, with the board showing {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {J-Clubs}, he finally led out. His opponent called with {K-Hearts} {k-Spades}; that pair was no good against Ivey's queen-high straight, {A-Spades} {9-Spades}.

"You don't need luck too," said his opponent.

"Yes I do," replied Ivey. His stack is up to 5,200 after being blinded off for most of the first two levels.
