Day 2 Concludes; Back at 1pm
Well, it's not quite the final table finish we were hoping for, but our 196 Day 2 starters have been whittled down to 23. Familiar faces who busted outside of the money included Annie Duke, Perry Friedman and Barry Greenstein. Those who did rather better and made it into the top 45 included Paul Darden, Mitch Schock and Max Pescatori.
It looks as though our current chip leader is the cowboy-hat-topped Mark Tenner, who snuck up to 285,000 on the very last hand of the night.

John Esposito Eliminated in 24th Place ($7,411)
On one of the last hands of the night, John Esposito decided to double up or go home. After Victor Deltoro opened with a raise, Esposito called all in. Jeff Tunkel and Sirous Jamshidi also came along.
Action checked all the way to the river where, with the board showing
, Deltoro fired out a bet. Only Jamshidi called. Deltoro showed the best hand to grab both halves of the side and main pot.
Esposito will collect $7,411 for 24th place. -

Dempsey's Peaks and Valleys Continue
We came to Table 70 in time to see a little of what James Dempsey previously described. After Mark Tenner bet a flop of
, Dempsey raised. Tenner called to the 
turn, where he check-called another bet. When the river fell 
, Tenner check-called one last time.
"I have the nut flush," he said, turning over

"Unbelievable," said a frustrated Dempsey. "That's how I'm running right now." -

With the clock at 10 minutes, and a 20-minute break coming, tournament staff have decided to draw a card for the remaining hands to be played and end the day. The card drawn was 4, so we will play four hands and then bag the chips.

Ben Gold Eliminated in 27th Place ($7,411)
While we were in the process of compiling the new seat assignments and fresh counts, Ben Gold got his short stack in the middle with
. There were lots of middle cards on the board, but also lots of hearts -- four hearts to be exact. One of Gold's two opponents, James Dempsey, had two more hearts in his hand, 
. Those two baby hearts gave him a small flush that was enough to knock out Gold. -

Up and Down for Dempsey
James Dempsey's had "an interesting level," as he put it. Up to a chip-leading 240,000 at one point, he managed to lose two enormous pots to set him back to 100,000, just below average. On the other hand, he thought his phone was broken but it has amazingly come back to life even as his chips vanished. Not all bad, then.
