Seebs Just Can't Get Going
It's been a very tough first level for Joe Sebok. In a three-way pot, the board was checked to him on a
flop. Sebok bet 900 and was called by one other player.
On the
turn, his opponent bet 2,500 into him and Sebok quickly called. The river was the
and this time a 5,000 bet was what Sebok was faced with, eventually giving it up.
Sebok is down to 14,000. -

No Help for Helppi
Juha Helppi is back down to his starting stack after calling 1,500 from Jonathan Tamayo on the
flop and another 4,000 on the
turn -- but folding to an enormous 10,000 from Tamayo on the
river. -

Raymer's Having a Bad Day So Far
Oh dear, further to smacking into quads earlier, Greg Raymer's dropped down to 16,000 already after calling 1,000 on the
flop and then another 2,000 on the
turn.
Both he and his opponent (there was a third player in, but he gave it up on the turn) checked the
river -- and Raymer mucked when his opponent flipped

Rast Doubles
The under-the-gun player and Erik Seidel had both limped in before Brian "tsarrast" Rast raised to 550 from the cutoff seat. The under-the-gun player then reraised to 1,400 and Seidel got out of the way. Rast made the call.
The flop came down
and the first player led for 2,100. Rast raised to 4,200 and then his opponent came back over the top for a raise to 12,100. Rast made the call.
The turn brought the
and Rast was faced with a bet big enough to put him all in. He made the call with the nuts,
, and a heart redraw. His opponent showed pocket aces,
. The river was another five, completing the double up for Rast. He's now back to 40,400 and his opponent is crippled. -

Scott Having Fun
Kara Scott, everyone's favorite EPT hostess is enjoying herself, which is more than can be said for one of her tablemates who has been knocked out.
"I think he was a WSOP circuit event winner, he looked a bit like Santa Claus but he played mental!"
Meanwhile, Scott is already proving popular with the ESPN media and hoping to make another deep run at this year's main event. -

Medium-Brunson Calls with Kings
Todd Brunson found himself on the big blind and involved in a five-way pot on a
flop. Brunson check-called 200 from one gentleman; there was one other caller and they made it three-way to the
turn.
Both Brunson and his other opponent called 600 from the original bettor, and come the
river, Mr. Bettor made it 1,000. Brunson was the only caller -- and he took it down with
for top pair. -

Trips Equal Chips for Davis
"I didn't like it until the turn."
So said Raymond Davis after the following hand. We picked it up right where Davis started liking the hand.
With the board showing

, the small blind checked, a player in middle position bet 200, then Davis raised to 700 from the button. The small blind called Davis' raise, and the MP player folded.
The river was the
. The small blind checked, Davis bet 1,000, and his opponent called. Davis showed

It is a Holiday
Should still be awhile before we know exactly how many runners have come out for Day 1b, but it's looking pretty clear that we'll have fewer than the 1,116 who were here on Friday.
While both the Brasilia and Miranda rooms are ready to accommodate players today, neither room has been needed as all fit here in the Amazon room. -

Moneymaker Dodges Bullets
An interesting hand has seen Chris Moneymaker avoid catastrophe and dodge the bullets of his opponent.
After the action was four-bet preflop, Moneymaker and his opponent checked through to the river on a board of

.
Again the action was checked to Moneymaker, who fired 2,500 thinking that his
were probably good. His opponent called and tabled a cautiously-played
. Moneymaker raised his eyebrows, but was happy to still have 22,200 chips behind. -

Krav-in' it largeKravchenko Climbing
A nice little pot for Alex Kravchenko, and he didn't even have to show his cards after making his opponent fold on the river.
Kravchenko and his opponent made it to see a
flop with around 1,200 in the pot by then. Mr. Opponent checked it and Kravchenko bet 350. Undeterred, Mr. Opponent called.
Both players checked the
turn and Mr. Opponent checked the
river too. A 900 bet from Kravchenko, though, and Mr. Opponent gave it up, putting Kravchenko up to 33,000.
