Hand #97: Lamb Finds the River to Cripple O'Dea

Level 38 : 400,000/800,000, 100,000 ante

Phil Collins started the hand with the button.

Eoghan O'Dea raised to 1.6 million from the cutoff seat. Ben Lamb reraised all in from the big blind for 14.225 million. After a few minutes of tanking, O'Dea called.

O'Dea: {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Lamb: {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Not only did Lamb have his cheering section on his side, but most of Phil Collins' fans joined in rooting for him, as they have been doing for most of the day.

The flop came down {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Lamb added a diamond flush draw. O'Dea was still in the lead, though.

The turn {4-Clubs} changed nothing, but the {8-Hearts} on the river slammed Lamb with the winning hand and the theatre erupted in cheers. A green mob of Lamb fans moshed together in the front rows of the stands while Collins' section right in front of us on stage roared.

Lamb moved to just about 30 million while O'Dea was crushed down to 2.6 million.
