WSOP Updates – Event #25, $2,000 NLHE — Morgan, Schaefer Chase Leader Auer 0001

A sizeable 1,800-player field was present for the start of Event #25, $2,000 No Limit Hold 'Em on Friday. The popular format also drew many big names and former bracelet winners. A sample of the field included Joe Tehan, Evelyn Ng, Greg 'FBT' Mueller, Erik Seidel, Lee Watkinson, Cliff Josephy, Mark Seif, Jennifer Tilly, Barry Greenstein, Eric Froehlich, Erick Lindgren, Michael 'The Grinder Mizrachi, T.J. Clotuier, Allen Cunningham and Freddy Deeb,

An early big story was the roller coaster ride of Seif, the 2005 WSOP double bracelet winner. After jumping to a sizeable lead at the start, Seif took several hits that saw him drop steadily throughout the course of the day until he busted after missing a flush draw. Another big story was the play of Alan Le. Brother of tournament tough-guy Nam Le, Alan dominated his table, later ending 'The Grinder's day with pocket rockets. Despite making his presence felt, however, Le busted before making the money. Another interesting run was that of Ultimate Fighting Championship's Mike 'Quick' Swick, who amassed a decent stack before busting out just short of the money, which the players reached before the end of the night's play.

Peter Auer ended the day in the lead, with Jordan Morgan in fourth, Brandon Schaefer in fifth, and Ross Boatman in tenth. 130 players remain, also including David Daneshgar, Amnon Filippi, Steve Dannenmann and Liz Lieu.
