PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker Begins
The much anticipated PokerStars All-Stakes Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) series begins today at PokerStars. The new spring series runs April 2-12, 2009, and includes 22 different events, with each event itself split into three separate low, medium and high buy-in online tournaments, making a total of 66 tourneys designed for players with a wide range of bankrolls.
Overall, $30 million in prize money is guaranteed over the course of the SCOOP; total payouts are expected to be significantly higher. The series includes two different high-roller events, and culminates on April 12 with a $5 million guarantee for the SCOOP main event. Among the distinct elements in the SCOOP:
• $10,300 High-Roller H.O.R.S.E.
• $25,500 Heads-up NL Hold'em
• Eight-Game Mixed event
• Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em
• Mixed Hold'em
• Six-Max PLO (with one re-buy and one add-on)
Early signups for the SCOOP series have been incredible. For today's SCOOP-1 trio of tourneys, for instance, entrants for the "low" tourney ($5.50 buy-in w/ rebuys) topped 17,800 prior to 11:00 am ET, with the "medium" ($55 + rebuys) and "high" ($530 + rebuys) already over 1,640 and 220, respectively. Similar high turnouts are expected for all 66 SCOOP tourneys.
Buy-ins begin as low as little as $5.50 for low-tier events, and satellites begin even cheaper, available for $2.20 or through FPP (Stars Frequent Player Points) entries.
