Sunday Briefing: Daniel Negreanu Wins H.O.R.S.E WCOOP

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu was among the big winners at PokerStars this weekend, triumphing in the $2,100 H.O.R.S.E tournament during the World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP).

Negreanu, playing as “KidPoker,” topped a field of 147 to get his hands on the $61,865.47 first-place prize, defeating Viktor “Isildur1” Blom heads-up, leaving the Swede to collect the $48,112.18 consolation prize.

Another big mixed game winner was Michael “SirWatts” Watson, who took down the $10,300 Eight-Game Championship, besting one hell of a final table. At the final table, Watson locked horns with the likes of Alexander “joiso” Kostritsyn, Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond, Sami “Lrslzk” Kelopuro, Calvin “cal42688” Anderson and Matthew “MUSTAFABET” Ashton. He sent Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky home in second place to scoop the $280,238.52 winner’s prize.

  • “giudaaaaaaaa” – winner of the Big $109 for $30,854.71
  • Andrey “Kroko-dill” Zaichenko – winner of the Hot $162 for $23,159.48
  • “WhatIfGod” – winner of the Super-Sized Sunday for $56,679.21
  • Guilherme “guix2x” Oliviera Brasileiro – winner of the $109 Bounty Builder for $17,570.06
  • Hao “onlymany” Tan – winner of the Bubble Rush for $12,440.95
  • Celio “vinizuxo” Martins – winner of the Hot $109 for $20,414.68
  • “psyhoagromor” – winner of the Sunday Grand NLHE for $80,540.68
  • “jaju85” – winner of the Sunday Grand PLO for $69,753.86
  • Kyle “KJulius10” Julius – winner of the Big $215 for $30,049.80
  • “Noogaii” – winner of the $320 NL Hold’em WCOOP Event for $120,008.69
  • “Nurlux” – winner of the Sunday Cooldown for $25,120.93
  • “laguna364” – winner of the Sunday Supersonic for $33,683.90
  • “iwillwinsm” – winner of the Hot $215 for $24,568.03
  • “Soyza” – winner of the Sunday Wrap-Up for $10,789.52

Over at 888poker, the Super XL Series came to a thrilling conclusion with the $1,500,000 Super XL Main Event, a $1,050 buy in tournament that smashed its guarantee by some $240,000.

The main beneficiaries of this gargantuan prize pool were the final three players who struck a deal for a combined score of almost $700,000. 888poker ambassador Dominik “888Dominik” Nitsche finished third for $206,400.36, with Finland’s “d144n1” finishing second for $210,810.80. The winner, “GetLuckyAK,” walked away with $261,214.84 and the title of champion.

In the $200,000 Super XL Mega Deep, “heysweety” banked $46,104 for their win, with Germany’s “TOX16” winning the $150,000 Super XL Mini Main Event for $39,649.27 and Sweden’s “IRLsucks” collecting the $15,112 first place prize from the $80,000 Sunday Challenge.

ThePartypoker Powerfest series also recently drew to a close.

The biggest win of the night weighed in at $242,775.05, which “WinYourFears99” collected for a win at the $1,000,000 guaranteed Super High Roller, a tournament costing $5,200 to enter. The runner-up was “swaymyway3113” who banked $185,994.28.

Another $1,000,000 guaranteed tournament was the $1,050 buy in High Roller Main Event won by “kastupay” for $203,310, while the $500,000 guaranteed Powerfest Main Event was chopped heads-up by “Wolowizard” and Cathel “omomo” Shine for $76,415.84 and $74,054.50 with the former winning the title.

Earlier in the day, “onlyGoodMusic” won the $150,000 guaranteed freezeout for $24,000, Joao “coroderAAto” Valli took down the $100,000 guaranteed freezeout for $18,219.31 and “TINY44” won the $300,000 guaranteed High Roller for $53,841.29 after a three-handed deal.

The WCOOP ends today (Sept. 26) and there are some huge prizes to be won. If the Main Event ends without a deal, someone will win $1,517,541.25. Tune into PokerNews on Sept. 27 to discover who that lucky player is.
