Sundays are always the biggest day of the week at 888poker with some of the regularly scheduled tournaments featuring larger than normal guaranteed prize pools and some special tournaments, like the Mega Deep and the Sunday Challenge.
If that's not enough, 888poker also hosts the Whale and the Baby Whale on alternating Sundays.
This past month provided even more excitement with the return of the Super XL series. The highlight of this series was Event #36 $1,500,000 Super XL Main Event. The tournament generated a huge $1,740,000 prize pool with three players grabbing the lion's share of the prize pool thanks to a deal made on the final table.
Officially winning the event was "GetLuckyAK" for $261,215 followed by Sami "d144n1" Kelopuro banking $210,811 for second place and 888poker Ambassador Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche snagging $206,400 for third place.
Other Super XL winners in big Sunday events included "LCFish" (Event #4 $200,000 Super XL - Mega Deep - $40,630), Michael "AcesJoker88" Acevedo (Event #5 $300,000 Super XL - Opening Event - $59,284), Adam "Adamyid" Owen (Event #7 $250,000 Super XL - Whale - $57,130), Vladislav "heysweety" Donchev (Event #35 $200,000 Super XL - Mega Deep - $46,104) and Sech "T0X16" Zehn (Event #37 $150,000 Super XL - Mini Main Event - $39,649).
While the biggest prizes did come during the Super XL, many other players scored big throughout the month. Some notable players to ship big tournaments in September included Mat "checktrap11" Cuthbertson taking down The $100,000 Whale for $37,609 on Sept. 4, Rafael "nitGMmator" Moraes winning the $80,000 Sunday Challenge 1R for $18,124 on Sept. 4, Jon "jareth3542" Clark notching a win in The $150,000 Mega Deep for $30,842 on Sept. 11 and Luis "gkamei09" Gustavo Kamei striking gold in the $80,000 Sunday Challenge 1R on Sept. 18 for $16,366.
