PokerStars Obtains Czech Republic's First International Operator License

PokerStars will soon launch in the Czech Republic after Amaya received approval from the Czech State Supervision of Gambling and Lotteries Department.

PokerStars became the first licensed online casino and poker operator in Czech Republic Jan. 28 when Amaya was awarded its 'Live Games' license. The Czech Republic came into new online gaming regulations Jan. 1.

“We are very proud to be the first online casino and poker operator to be awarded a license and support the newly regulated Czech market,” said Guy Templer, chief operating officer of PokerStars in a release. “This underscores our commitment to supporting local regulations and obtaining local licenses wherever possible.”

PokerStars will offer a variety of poker games and tournament formats across its shared global liquidity, according to a release from the company. The popular multiplayer casino games - Classic Blackjack, Premium Blackjack, European Roulette and Double Ball Roulette - on desktop and mobile.

Amaya currently has licenses or operating approvals in 17 jurisdictions. The company has also applied for a sports betting license that it would offer through BetStars in the Czech Republic. In the future, Amaya also wants to expand its online offerings to online casino games on PokerStars Casino.
