Sunday Briefing: Renato 'man151299' Nomura Triumphs in the Title Fight

Sunday Briefing

The $215 Title Fight tournament at partypoker again proved to be one of the best, if not the best, value multi-table tournament found online Feb. 26.

With a $325,000 guarantee which increases by $25,000 every time the guarantee is hit, the Title Fight requires 1,625 players to buy in, but this week only 1,385 of them took to the virtual felt, leaving partypoker nursing a $48,000 overlay.

Brazil’s Renato “man151299” Nomura took full advantage of there being fewer opponents to navigate past and was the last player standing, a result worth $52,325. Not a bad return on a $215 investment.

Another of partypoker’s popular Sunday events is the $150,000 Gtd Main Event which was won by “LifeSupport” this week for $24,544, while the $150,000 Gtd High Roller saw Troy “good player” Quenneville come out on top and turn $530 into a much more substantial $37,791.

Earlier on Sunday, “BROSSTAR” took down the $100,000 Gtd High Roller for a $24,259 score, with “bossamtisch1” triumphing in the $50,000 Gtd Weigh-In and adding $10,973 to their bankroll.

Across to 888poker now where Mexico’s “B_thebenar” walked away with the $21,703 first-place prize of the $100,000 Baby Whale and where “mikedonks” turned $215 into $9,447 after winning the $40,000 Turbo Mega Deep.

This week’s $120,000 Mega Deep was a special sale edition that saw the buy-in reduced to $109. The new cut-price event saw its $120,000 guarantee smashed by $61,800 and the United Kingdom’s “Tom38x” was the main beneficiary of the swollen prize pool because his victory was worth some $30,706.

Another two 888poker Sunday majors received the sale treatment: The $50,000 Sunday Crocodile’s buy-in was reduced to $80 and the $80,000 Sunday Challenge could be bought into for only $55.

Germany’s “xxmkayxx” won the Sunday Crocodile and banked $17,081 and Russia’s “Crazy_Freak” emerged victorious in the Sunday Challenge for a score of $17,761.

The three largest cashes of the weekend all stemmed from the PokerStars Sunday Million, which ended in a three-way chop.

“TheFan83” banked $122,000 and was the tournament’s champion with “digopapel” and “KasparovAKs” finishing third or with scores of $112,734 and $91,000.

Someone else winning big at PokerStars this weekend was “berman As” who secured the $48,071 top prize of the $1,050 Sunday Grand NLHE by outlasting 245 opponents.
