Scott Margereson Wins Biggest Sunday Prize at 888poker in March

The United Kingdom's Scott "AggroSantos" Margereson was the biggest Sunday winner at 888poker in March.

He outlasted a star-studded final table in The Whale on March 19, which featured Brazil's Joao Mathias “joao_mathias” Baumgarten (second place - $21,781), Norway's Preban "prebzzz" Stokkan (third place - $16,408) and Czech Republic's Lukas "suk12cz" Soucek (seventh place - $5,082) to bank the tournament's top prize of $29,694.

Margereson, with over $3.8 million in online tournament cashes according to his PocketFives profile, is no stranger to the big stage. While his victory in The Whale represented his biggest at 888poker, he has had seven bigger online tournament cashes on other online poker rooms including three separate six-digit hauls.

The British poker pro grabbed the attention of the online poker world during the 2014 WCOOP when he won two huge tournaments within a three-day period. He first won the WCOOP-18: $320 NL Hold'em [Turbo, Zoom], $400K Guaranteed for $106,897 before he shipped the WCOOP-22 [Sunday Warm-Up SE]: $215 NL Hold'em, $1M Guaranteed two days later for $244,175.

A few months later in April 2015, he was at it again on PokerStars when he took down the $215 Sunday Million, $1M Gtd for $194,479.

After the win, he told PokerNews that he credited a couple of well-known poker pros for his success.

"I credit a lot of my tournament success to my old backer and coach, Elio "smokrokflock" Fox, and also to Jonathan "apestyles" Van Fleet. I wouldn't be here without them I don't think," said Margereson.

Margereson wasn't the only notable player with success at 888poker in March. Italian poker player Rocco "sephir0t" Palumbo took second place in The Whale on March 5 for $20,255.

Palumbo now has over $4.1 million in online tournament cashes according to PocketFives to go along with more than $2 million in live tournament cashes according to The Hendon Mob.

Meanwhile, on March 12, Ireland's Cathal "cshine87" Shine and Australia's Rory "DEOSONER" Young agreed to a heads-up deal in The Baby Whale awarding the duo $18,792 and $17,724, respectively.

Also making a big splash in March were Brazilian poker player Rafael "keybr" Watanabe do Prado (March 12 - $13,921) and Dutch poker player Jan "Graftekkel" Arends (March 26 -$15,991) for finishing on top of the podium in The Sunday Challenge.
