Mental Preparation
Get a glimpse of Holz as he drifts into a state of relaxation and accesses a potential hiccup in his approach last week at the Poker Masters. He works on getting refocused in a quest to “take it more seriously” as he heads into the final preliminary $50,000 buy-in event with the $100,000 buy-in final event yet to come.
After his session, Holz talks about mindset coaching and how important it is for him. As a practice he picked up before achieving the great success he has had in poker, he will stick with it for these big spots for the foreseeable future.
Event #4 at the Poker Masters
Holz shifts back from party mode to poker mode but fails to get much of anything going in Event #4. He hovered around starting stack for much of the day, and then in Level 7, he got very short after doubling up fellow countryman Rainer Kempe with ace-ten suited against Kempe’s ace-queen which held up.
Holz held on for a while but ultimately could not build a stack to advance to the final table. Holz would get a day of rest before playing in the final event of the series, Event #5: $100,000 No-Limit Hold’em. Unlike the preliminary events, the final is a freezeout, so players can only buy in one time.
