Railbird Report: Sam Trickett Talks One Drop Regrets, Big Game in Asia

On Tuesday, the WSOP released the official schedule for the 2018 World Series of Poker. Railbirds across the globe are already getting excited about return of the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop after a four-year hiatus. This year, even the Main Event has moved up in the WSOP schedule to accommodate the biggest buy-in tournament in the world, which will close out the series WSOP with a bang.

Back in 2012, Antonio Esfandiari won the inaugural edition for an astonishing $18,346,673. The runner-up was Sam Trickett, who banked $10,112,001, making him one of the few players in the world who can boast about an eight-figure score on his poker resumé. However, even after winning ten million dollars in one tournament, the partypoker sponsored pro still has some regrets when he reminisces about his biggest final table ever.

Catching Up on High Stakes Action: Three Biggest Pots Online

The biggest online pots of the week were between Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and "AmSoGood", who were battling it out heads-up at $100/$200 pot-limit Omaha.

1) "AmSoGood" Wins a $58,149 Pot (291 Big Blinds) from Viktor "Isildur1" Blom

"AmSoGood" opened the action with a raise to $600, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom three-bet to $1,800, "AmSoGood" four-bet to $5,400 and Blom called. The flop was 2♠9♥K♠ and "AmSoGood" continued with $10,797, half the pot, leaving himself with $12,877 behind. Blom shoved all in and "AmSoGood" called it off.

It was a near coin flip situation for the $58,149 pot and the players ran it twice. The first rundown was 9♠ J♦ to improve "AmSoGood" to the nut flush. He did the same in the second rundown: after 10♥ 3♠ "AmSoGood made another nut flush to scoop up the entire pot.

2) "AmSoGood" wins a $50,394 Pot (252 Big Blinds) from Viktor "Isildur1" Blom

Another four-bet pot between "AmSoGood" and Blom saw the players once again stick $5,400 each in preflop. The flop was 5♠A♣7♠ and Blom check-called $3,000 from "AmSoGood". Both players checked the 4♥ on the turn.

On the 8♥ river, Blom potted for $16,797, leaving himself with just $1,640 behind. "AmSoGood" had trapped Blom with A♠Q♥8♠6♥ and called, while the Swede couldn't muster up more than K♣Q♠J♠8♥.

3) Viktor "Isildur1" Blom wins a $46,782 Pot (234 Big Blinds) against "AmSoGood"

Although "AmSoGood" may have won the two biggest pots, Blom won his fair share as well. His biggest pot against "AmSoGood" was in yet another four-bet pot, where "AmSoGood" once again held the button and $5,400 each went in preflop.

The flop came down 8♣10♥5♥ and Blom decided to lead out pot for $10,797. "AmSoGood" shoved for his remaining $17,991 and Blom called.

Blom's pair with straight and flush draws was nearly even money against "AmSoGood"s aces and two of Blom's out. The players ran it twice and Blom won both on a 7♥J♦ runout and a 9♠3♥ runout, making him a flush twice.

This Week's Online High-Stakes Biggest Winners and Losers

"Grazvis1" held the honor of becoming this week's biggest winner, becoming the only player to bank over six figures in profit. Viktor "Isildur1" Blom's harsh battles with "AmSoGood", among others, proved fruitful, as the Swede netted a plus of $81,871 to make him the second biggest winner of the week.

Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky found himself in the red after dropping $90,594 over the course of seven days. Sulsky could take the hit and is still up $309,237 for the year and an astonishing $5,161,957 lifetime on the highest stakes on PokerStars. Other players who saw their bankrolls diminishes were "8superpoker" and Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn.

The 2017 Leaderboard

"BERRI SWEET" and Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov are still locked in a fierce battle to become the biggest winner on PokerStars in 2017. Both players lost a bit in the past week and are now sitting on $1,769,395 and $1,646,301, respectively. Viktor "Isildur1" Blom won and is creeping near the 1M profit mark again.

"8superpoker had an active week, playing over 4,000 hands, but had to part with nearly $50,000 to put his year total at -$759,597. The top 3 losing players for 2017 remained unaltered with Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro and Dani "supernova9" Stern above "8superpoker".
