Sunday Briefing: "Lucky_Jew_17" Wins Sunday Million Second Time in Two Months

There were some incredible results in the online poker tournament world on April 21 with several well-established players winning big. Niklas Astedt, who appeared at three major final tables, and Roman Romanovsky, who finished runner-up in two major events, were among those big winners. Let’s take a look at this week’s edition of the Sunday Briefing.

PokerStars $109 Sunday Million

This week’s $109 Sunday Million attracted a field of 11,212 to create a $1,121,200 prize pool. The top 2,042 finishers secured at least a min-cash of $177.

For the second time in less than two months, Russia's "Lucky_Jew_17" won the Sunday Million after more than 14 hours of play. On March 3, this player won the event for $117,222 and this weekend added another $114,039 in winnings after winning it again.

Falling just short of the winner's circle was Sweden's Niklas "lena900" Astedt in second place for $82,752. Meanwhile, Brazil's Rafael "sombrero21" Roglio notched his biggest tournament cash at PokerStars after finishing in sixth place for $22,921.

PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller

The PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller attracted 128 entrants to generate a $256,000 prize pool with 15 players walking away with at least a min-cash of $5,462.

After nearly nine hours of play, Jonathan "apestyles" Van Fleet added to his more than $10 million in online earnings in a big way by winning the event for $56,112. Michael "Imluckbox" Addamo finished one spot behind in second place for a runner-up prize of $43,186.

Meanwhile, Astedt earned his second mention this report with a fifth-place performance worth $19,688. Other notables at the final table included Samuel "€urop€an" Vousden (fourth - $25,581), Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson (sixth - $15,153), and Hristiyan "cskar4e1" Panchev (seventh - $11,662).

$20,000 Sunday Challenge at 888poker

Canada’s “ccyrenne” became a poker champion on April 21 when they triumphed over 265-opponents in the $20,000 Sunday Challenge, turning their $109 investment into a cool $5,676.

Twenty-seven players reached the money places and shared the $26,400 prize pool. $528 was the least any of the nine finalists could win, the sum awarded to the first casualty under the spotlights “junkarbo14” of Sweden.

“rickybarbosa” was the next player to fall and the last player not to collect a four-figure prize. Russia’s Artem “veeea” Vezhenkov, a three-time PokerStars Sunday Million champion, fell in seventh-place for $1,056 beofre being joined on the rail by “YSoSerious7” of the Ukraine, Bahrain’s “GGhrayeb” and “luishi64” who hails from Brazil.

This left three players in the hunt for the top prize. Those three became two with the elimination of the United Kingdom’s “HomoDeus”, a finish worth $3,102.

Heads-up saw ccyrenne and Russia’s “Lucky_Frutti” lock horns heads-up and it was the former who emerged victorious. Lucky_Frutti had to console themself with the $4,092 runner-up prize, leaving ccyrenne to collect the $5,676 top prize and the glory.

888poker $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep

The $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep at 888poker provided extra value to the 45 players that cashed after the 325 players and 152 re-entries fell 23 entries short of meeting the $100,000 guarantee.

After nearly ten and a half hours of play, Germany's "polomichi18" shipped the event for $19,350. Also on the podium were "ROBBIEMAC01" in second place for $14,500 and Maxime "MaximeC25" Canevet in third place for $11,000.

Notable players exiting earlier at the final table included Jonatan "Nammlleh" Hellman in fourth place for $8,250 and Andrey "drupalucker" Chernokoz in seventh place for $3,400.

partypoker Sunday High Roller Gladiator: $250K Gtd

After nearly eight hours of play, partypoker ambassador Patrick "Patrick_Leonard" Leonard and Roman "SanityWaterline" Romanovsky agreed to a heads-up deal in the Sunday High Roller Gladiator: $250K Gtd event to collect $47,421 and $43,415 respectively including bounties.

Leonard wasn't the only partypoker ambassador at the final table as he was joined by Kristen "krissyb24" Bicknell who bowed out in fifth place for $18,927. Meanwhile, Niklas "Dulitooo" Astedt got a third mention this report with a seventh-place finish worth $7,831.

Other well-known players at the final table included Sami "LarsLuzak1" Kelopuro in fourth place for $16,163 and Conor "ADRIEN_BRODY" Beresford in eighth place for $7,068.

partypoker Sunday High Roller Deepstack: $200K Gtd

After more than ten and a half hours of play, Russia's Andrey "ifearpanic" Pateychuk was crowned partypoker Sunday High Roller Deepstack: $200K Gtd champion after outlasting a field of 196 entrants in the $1,050 buy-in tournament.

A total of 32 places were paid with a min-cash weighing in at $2,080, a final table appearance boosting this amount to $4,600, and first-place being worth $40,780.

Finishing just off the podium was United Kingdom's Paul "Sentapied99" Senter in fourth place for $15,600.

Blade Series Main Event at Natural8

After eleven and a half hours of play, Hong Kong's Danny "retango" Tang outlasted a field of 1,015 entrants in the Blade Series Main Event at Natural8 to win $81,561.

A total of 152 entrants walked away at least doubling their $500 buy-in with a min-cash worth $1,087.

Joining "retango" on the podium was Costa Rica's "The Shaft" taking second place for $59,189 and China's "AFURI" taking third place for $42,953.

Blade Series #98 $10K at Natural8

After nearly six and a half hours of play, Canada's "Picasso16" shipped the Blade Series #98 $10K event for $157,239. Roman "SanityWaterline" Romanovsky earned his second mention this report with an impressive second runner-up finish in a big event, this time worth $92,905.

Also cashing in this event were "Nator" (third - $58,478), "oivens22" (fourth - $36,809), and "ST4Gaz3R" (fifth - $23,169).
