Bernard Lee Launches Mainstream Weekly Poker Column for Metrowest Daily News

Bernard Lee

Earlier this summer, poker player and media member Bernard Lee launched a bi-monthly poker column entitled House Rules, which will appear online every other Friday for the Metrowest Daily News, which serves the MetroWest region of suburban Boston.

The column will help bring the game to the mainstream readers by highlighting a specific poker hand each time with Lee offering strategy and analysis. Lee will also use the column to share poker news and highlights from his poker travels.

“I’m excited to bring the world of poker to the newspaper based in my hometown area,” said Lee. “My poker column will utilize a unique online hand replay technology from ShareMyPair.com so readers can readily follow the action. Fortunately, due to the nature of being online, people from all around the world can enjoy the column. I’m excited to join the Metrowest Daily News Sports team and share my passion for poker.”

Lee, a resident of Massachusetts, is no stranger to writing poker columns. He’s worked for ESPN and written for numerous poker sites, as well as serving as a poker columnist for the Boston Herald from 2005-12. Those articles were subsequently combined into two books, The Final Table, Volumes I and II. He’s also combined his passion for poker to drive charitable causes in the Boston area.

For the past 13 years, Lee has also hosted the The Bernard Lee Poker Show, one of the longest-tenured poker shows in the industry. The show airs on terrestrial radio in Boston on the Money Matter Radio Network (102.9 FM, 1120 AM) and also via podcast on various outlets including iTunes and CardPlayerLifestyle.com.

“Bernard brings over a decade of poker playing and writing experience to The Metrowest Daily News. We are thrilled to have his expertise in one of the world’s most popular games – poker,” said Tommy Cassell, Metrowest Daily News Senior Multimedia Journalist and Sports Team Leader.

Last month, Lee traveled from Massachusetts down to Atlantic City to participate in the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) online bracelet events. The two-time circuit ring winner managed to notch a trip of cashes, including $1,818 for finishing 236th in Event #31: $1,000 NLH Championship.

Lee recently talked about playing the online series, as well as PokerNews’ coverage of it, with Chad Holloway, PokerNews’ Head of Live Reporting North America.
