Tom Delaine Shines the Most on Day 1b of the $500K GTD CPP Warm Up

Tom Delaine

For the first time, the 2020 Caribbean Poker Party (CPP) headed from the sandy beaches of the Carribbean Sea to online at partypoker partypoker.

The festival guarantees more than $10 million over the course of 10 events (15 tournaments) from Nov. 15-25 with many of the biggest events still running or yet to come including the Warm Up, the three Main Events, and the High Roller.

Tom Delaine Bags Day 1b Chip Lead in the Warm Up

Saturday's CPP action was highlighted by Day 1b of the $500,000 guaranteed CPP 07: The Warm Up. The event, which boasts three opening flights, is a progressive knockout (PKO) affair with $500 of each buy-in going towards the prize pool and the other $500 placed as a progressive bounty on each player's head.

Day 1b attracted a total of 180 players to add another $180,000 to the prize pool. It appears very likely that the $500,000 guarantee will be met when also taking into account the 115 entries on Friday's Day 1a and the fact that there is still one flight to go on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. GMT.

A total of 20 players survived the Day 1b flight to add to the 14 survivors on Day 1a. Nobody virtually bagged more chips on Day 1b than Tom Delaine with a stack of 21,692,069 in chips with Arunas Sapitavicius (21,090,102) nearly earning that honor for himself.

Rounding out the top five in chip counts on Day 1b were Daniel Peche (17,758,000), Julien Sitbon (16,215,881), and Kim Heldermann (14,674,810).

Several other big names advanced to Day 2 yesterday including Ognyan Dimov (8,741,958), Brock Wilson (8,617,766), Ednrit Geci (8,484,415), Barry Hutter (4,757,569), and Bryan Paris (3,786,878).

Meanwhile, partypoker ambassadors Anatoly Filatov, Dzmitry Urbanovich, Roberto Romanello, and Kristen Bicknell were all in action on Day 1b but will need to re-enter the event on Day 1c for a chance to compete on Day 2 after coming up empty-handed on Saturday.

Klaus Mortensen Leads the Way

Although Delaine and Sapitavicius both impressively ran their 1 million starting chips to more than 20 million, both players will be behind the Day 1a chip leader Klaus Mortensen who ran up his stack to 22,688,237 in chips.

Here is a look at the top ten players on the leaderboard heading into Day 2 of the Warm Up with one opening flight remaining.
