Red Hot MTT Action on This Cold Winter Weekend

The Weekend Preview

We don’t know what the weather is like where you’re reading this article from but we can tell you it’s freezing here at PokerNews HQ. Thankfully, there’s plenty of red hot poker tournament action taking place online this weekend to keep us toasty warm indoors!

Start Your Quest For WSOP Main Event Glory

Poker tournaments don’t come much bigger than the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. One of the three Day 1s at GGPoker is already done and dusted with 62 players from the 294 Day 1A starters making it through to Day 2.

December 4 and December 5 see the final two flights take place. Both shuffle up and deal at 6:00 p.m. GMT and are freezeout tournaments, so make sure you make your one and only $10,000 bullet count. Unlike other tournaments GGPoker has run, you can only play in one WSOP Main Event flight.

$10,000 is a lot of money to spend on a single tournament entry, but you don’t have to pay that princely sum because GGPoker is running a plethora of satellites, giving everyone the chance of glory.

PokerNews’ Live Reporting team is bringing you full, exclusive live updates from both this weekend’s flights. Perhaps we’ll see your name at the top of the Day 1B or 1C chip counts?

Will You Become the Irish Poker Masters Main Event?

The Irish Poker Masters should be taking place in Ireland over the next 10 or so days but COVID-19 put paid to those plans. partypoker stepped in and rescued the day, agreeing to host the 2020 Irish Poker Masters.

This festival’s schedule is superb – you can check it out in full here – but it is the €1,100 buy-in Main Event that is the tournament everyone wants to win. It features a €1 million guaranteed prize pool and an epic blind structure.

You receive 200,000 chips for your buy-in and the aim on Day 1A is to last until only 15% of the field remains. Blinds start at 500/1,000/125a and increase every 25-minutes. Late registration is open until the end of the ninth level, which is also your last opportunity to purchase one re-entry.

Get ready to go into battle from 7:05 p.m. GMT on December 6 and again on December 13 if your Day 1A doesn’t go to plan; December 13 is when Day 1B takes place.

Satellites are available for the Main Event, including a 50-seat Mega Sat at 3:30 p.m. GMT that costs €109 to enter unless you win your way in from only €1.10.

Sunday Million Swells and Becomes a PKO

This weekend’s Sunday Million is going to be huge. PokerStars has upped the buy-in to $215 but boosted the guarantee to an incredible $2.5 million. Oh, and it is a PKO event too, meaning you can win sacks of cash without actually reaching the main prize pool payouts.

Cards are in the air from 6:00 p.m. GMT, although late registration is open for 3.25 hours. Should you dust off your 10,000 starting stack while late registration is open, you can re-enter up to three times.

There are dozens of satellites if you want to play in this $2.5 million guaranteed PKO edition of the Sunday Million but the $215 buy-in is putting you off. You’ll find $11, $22, and $74 buy-in Sit & Go Satellites plus a whole host of traditional satellites too.

Two huge satellites take place at 4:15 p.m. GMT and 5:30 p.m. GMT on December 6. Both have 100 seats guaranteed with the earlier of the two satellites costing $11 to enter and the later one commanding a $22 buy-in.
